Far Cry 3 - Patch 1.04 Released, Improves Overall Stability & Features Lots Of Fixes

DSOGaming writes: "Seems that Ubisoft is really supporting the PC version of Far Cry 3. Yes, the team has not addressed the DX11 performance as of yet, however it has already rolled out 4 patches for the PC version that fix a lot of gameplay issues. Among other things, this latest patch improves stability, fixes one hell of bugs/issues, fixes several crashes, adds some tweaks for the Map Editor, and introduces new options the hide the HUD." (Far Cry 3, PC)

Does it allow you to use more than 2x MSAA without crushing your frame rate?

If you have an ATI card you can go into Catalyst and use the "override application settings" tab to use 8xAA without a framerate sacrifice. Bob Dole gets 60fps on Ultra with this setting and HDAO.

No, I have Nvidia cards. Powerful ones. But it doesn't seem to matter when it comes to AA in this game.

That worked pretty well for me, thank you!

Try to Force FXAA from Nvidia Control Panel.

I could use FXAA easily enough, although I personally dislike that particular type of AA. That's really not the issue. The problem is that I have an SLI setup nearly as powerful as a GTX 690 (2 GTX 670 4GBs) but notice drops in frames if I go over 2x MSAA. I'm sure much of this is due to deferred rendering, which tends to cause major performance issues when you use MSAA.

I'm hopeful more games get TXAA soon. That seems to work pretty well in Assassin's Creed III. AC III is the only game I have so far that allows me to use TXAA.

When will game developers learn, no matter how many patches you give to a bad a game, it still a bad game. It is like polishing a turd.

They still haven't fixed that awful shimmering effect the AI does when you get close to them? It takes the immersion out.
