IGN's PlayStation Vita Game of the Year 2012 Preview

While the PlayStation Vita technically debuted in Japan in 2011, 2012 was the first time the rest of the world could get its hands on Sony's new handheld. With a truly impressive launch line-up packing standouts such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Lumines: Electronic Symphony and Super Stardust Delta, the Vita hit hard upon debut, but then lets games trickle out. Dokuro here, Persona 4 Golden there. It might not have been the most exciting year with week after week of impressive games, but the Vita's library is robust and packed with winners. However, which title will be the handheld's first Game of the Year? Let's find out. (PS Vita)

Persona 4 Golden is GotY worthy, competing with the likes of Walking Dead, Dishonored, Mass Effect 3, Xenoblade, XCOM

LBP Vita was amazing... best LBP game IMO. For me it's Vita's GOTY. But Vita has some great games... the most overlooked IMO is New Little King's Story. That game is highly addictive.

Also Gravity Rush and Uncharted : GA!

Mine is Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but I have yet to play P4G as I live in Europe.

Gravity Rush was good, but some gameplay and control mechanics needs more polishing and adjusting. LBP and WipEout must be mentioned too, great games indeed.

P4G, that is all. Although serious worthy mentions for LBP, Gravity Rush, MGS Collection, and Disgaea 3. All of those games were done extremely well.

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is my overall GOTY, until I play Persona 4 Golden. I bought Persona 3 on my Vita back when it was on sale and it's one of the best games I played this year.

You will enjoy Persona 3 Portable ;)

Will do, thanks. I hear good things about p3 its my next target.

A bit of a warning. Persona 1 and 2 differs very from Persona 3 and 4. Battlesystem is a bit more complex and hard to get into. It is not for everyone coming from P3P or P4: The Golden versions of the persona games.

It´s been a good year for my PSVITA ;)

It really has, hasn't it? Sure, the releases have been slow and for around 5 months there wasn't any big releases, but there's still just so many great games. Looking at the Vita's library compared to other consoles first year, it's got the best ratio for high quality games. And I really hope that's indicative of its future.
