GR - "The War Z has been pulled from Steam by Valve, in the wake of their investigation into allegations of fraud by the game's developers Hammerpoint Interactive."
Valve brings the hammer down!
Oh NOES! 'Whining' gamers got something fixed again!!
I'm not sure if Silent should be getting the disagrees, isn't it technically true? Though unsure if it's sarcasm and an insult, orrrr, a Compliment that when Gamers band together, have a problem with something and complain for what is RIGHT. They get it done. Whining maybe just isn't the right word for it..... Justifiable Rioting and Forum explosions. Michael Bay style Gamer-explosions. Especially when it involves A Lot of Vodka and Big Rigs.
Not really sure how people took my comment. I'm mocking the "entitled gamers ZOMG!" club because supposedly "whining" gamers have gotten so much good done lately. Added context to Hitman, removing a game that Steam apparently didn't bother to look before allowing on their service, getting developers to change obvious bad designs (InFamous, Fuse or whatever they're calling it these days, etc), etc. "whiny entitled gamers": 1 Publisher-humping fanboys: 0
It's made by the same guy who made Big Rigs. Basically his games are scams. http://asia.gamespot.com/bi... http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Win!!! I rather play open world l4d3 on source engine 2. War zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Why not just Day Z? Eh, Robert should have just stayed with Infinity Ward. This War Z game of his is looking more and more generic every time I see it. Valve is even humble enough to take the blame for this themselves even though it isn't their fault at all. Hammerpoint needs to grow up.
Robert Bowling is in another studio if you were talking about him.
@Reverent That's not true at all. Part of this WAS Valve's fault. Valve plays every game that gets thrown at them to make sure that it's fit to be put onto their service. They put it on Steam, knowing that the information they'd posted was a bunch of crap. They did it as a way to see how much many they could make off of a controversial game and I'm fairly certain they made a decent amount of money considering how long the game actually ended up sitting there. :/ People really seem to forget that Valve is a business and, like most businesses, they made really rather shady moves because of that very important profit motive.
Yay! A win for gamers... i hope that company burns to the ground. FTC is checking up on the company too. Awesome.
If only people cared about the real world like they do about video game injustice; we would actually have society progress instead of degenerate. Point proven, video games keep your focus on the unimportant things in life; atleast for some not all users of N4G. This isnt just games that have this problem, games are reflecting the systems that allows this type of thing to occur on a constant basis. Open your eyes, there is more to life then video games.
That's the dumbest thing I've read in quite a while.
Thank you, Valve. I hate talking trash about a developer, but this is what they get for false advertisement and releasing an unfinished game.
These hammerpoint guys should have been put on everyone's sh*tlist after they blatantly tried to rip off day z's brand.
wow, this guys seems like shit eh? since the start i just keep hearing bad things about this dev.
Well, from the start it's a copied game "DayZ", "WarZ", too similar, then devs being a-holes.
I wonder why Gameloft's not getting hammered?
Wow the WarZ devs are dicks, i am not giving one cent, i mean to ban people who deserve their refunds for false advertising is just one of the most stupid thing a dev can do.
Valve is the coolest
thank you valve. I was considering a buy a couple days ago, but the amount of people complaining about the game really got me to see a warz gameplay video. It was horrible, wretched, unfinished. Anyone defending a game being sold as complete, when its not, and on top of that having micro-transactions is disgusting and pulls the gaming industry in a very dark path.. just when you think in disc locked content is bad.
TBH, i thought DayZ still looked better than WarZ even though it was a mod, guess i'm gonna have to wait for State of Decay and DayZ.
Hadn't heard of State of Decay before, it looks pretty good! Wonder if it'll have any sort of MP element to it, or if it'll be solely single player
@DFogz, It actually does have a multiplayer version coming later on, it's known as Class4.
This scandal is the most fun I've had with gaming news all year. It's even better than last year's Ocean Media fiasco. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
I'm with you man. This is just insane. I've heard of devs say they promise some feature, but didn't have time to include it in the game in the finished state, but never a developer blatantly lying about their game and banning players for no apparent reason. I got my popcorn and ready for more info! XD
The Ocean Media debacle, and the amount of memes it generated was truly epic. A real train wreck, much like this one! ``i wwebsite as on the internet``
Oh my God, that Ocean Media thing was hilarious. "Who are you exactly." Uhhh...I'm Mike Krahulik and I run PAX.
To all above me: Ocean Marketing*
Ah, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out.
Im not even a PC gamer/ steam costumer but I am sooooooooooo glad they got this game off of steam....freaking scumbags whoever released this try to steal gamer's money with a crappy game and micro-transactions. Developers like this make me SICK!
Good on Valve, but this should never have been put up in the first place.
True, but they ARE stepping up and fixing their mistake, refunding money which the devs should be coughing up (since it went into their pockets). +1 to valve for a 10/10 damage control. -all to the devs for being scumbags, good thing they got caught this early on. I was on the verge of buying this game yesterday, glad I decided to wait till Friday. Going to use the money on the indy/greenlight market instead for people who deserve my hard earned cash.
its cause the developers already had a game on steam. war inc
War Inc/War Z = Same game...
This is what happens when you copy DayZ and try to get it out before the DayZ standalone comes. A shitty product that is not even finished. Good they got pulled.
What i finds hard to believe is that anyone would actually pay cash to play this rubbish??? :/
of course they are the same game but war inc was still released earlier on steam so the developers had 1 game on steam. in the steam forums i read that if a developer has 1 game released on steam, valve will be more relaxed to release more of the games from the developer/studio/publisher. im happy the game got shut down on steam. at least 10 of my friends had it on their wishlist lol
Because there is fake information in the description, it lists a lot of good features but none of them are in the actual game
Love reading about this studio, wonder whats next up thier sleeve?
A name change. Can't really see Valve allowing them back on if what's being said about these guys is even half true.
Sounds like Socom Confrontation all over again but apparently PC gamers have no time for BS......
All they had to do was say the game wasn't finished and explain what features are currently in the game and what will be added. Though the prices should have been adjusted as they were way too high for an unfinished product IMO. What they did went far beyond what is acceptable IMO and I'm glad Valve took action. I was skeptical about this game when it was announced, but I really never expected this.
About damn time! Its funny, I just signed petition for it to be pulled off steam, on the steam forums today too. I guess Valve takes my vote seriously haha
I love seeing con artists get their day ruined.
Another sign that PC gaming is dead... The games have such little effort put into them that they need to be pulled from purchasing! At this point they are creating PC games to remain as part of the culture just in case the PC industry turns around. Guess what, it won't. Gamers have moved to consoles and devs need to put all of their money in that direction instead.
You know, trolling's actually pretty easy, but you make it seem hard. That's not a good thing.
This is the same guy who thinks Resident Evil 5 and 6 are the best Resident Evil games ever made. I think trolling comes off pretty easy for him.
Trolling is when a person says things to incite others. My comments, however, are based on fact and meant to engage others in conversation. You seem to have travel with your part, unfortunately. If you can't conversate, in this case about the demise of PC gaming, then just don't bother replying.
@isyourhouseonfire "Trolling is when a person says things to incite others. My comments, however, are based on fact and meant to engage others in conversation." Not based on fact. Guild Wars 2. Debate over. I could give several actual facts to refute your absurd attempt at sparking a discussion, but I decided just to name the first PC only title that came to mind. By the way is Skyrim playable on PS3 yet? May as well just admit you're a troll otherwise you just come off stupid.
maaaannn, was really wanting to get WarZ, kinda glad i didnt now
I think Sergey is Peggy from USA Prime Credit.
Hope the ads get pulled soon as well. I'm staring at one as I type this...
Nah this is BS The Dev submitted a Pre-Gold version to Steam and they told Valve to pull it.
Then why would valve be offering refunds...
what a blatant lie
Are you honestly retarded TABSF?
Sums up my opinion on this joke of public relations: http://www.gamersheroes.com... Horrible way to treat your customers.
I got so confused before that I had to get things clear. I knoe DayZ is a mod for Arma 2 that was (is) hugely successful that they decided to release it as a standalone game. Well, I thought that standalone games was WarZ. But now I realize it's a poorly made rip-off and a scam. They deserve all the shit they're getting.
War Z was a piece of garbage that tried to piggy back off the success of DayZ
