A new round of Dark Souls II details were provided in this week's issue of Famitsu. The tidbits come from supervisor Hidetaka Miyazaki.
ok i was wrong about something, very excited for this game! thanks for the heads up Despair666
Dlc is not a bad thing. It depends on the Dlc they make on whether it's a good or bad thing, like...day 1 Dlc. Also, I highly highly doubt they will change the core gameplay, there is no indication of that. Also " - Dark Souls II’s story won’t necessarily be related to the original - Dark Souls II takes place in a different time period - Keyword is time" See, may as well not be called Dark souls. It's basically unrelated to the first one. Like Demons souls to Dark souls.
It is in the same world though.
The only reason they renamed the sequel as Dark Souls is because Sony owns the rights to Demon's Souls and it had to be changed so they could take the series multi-platform. I generally prefer spiritual successors than direct sequels, so I am actually very happy with this decision.
Could also have kept the name Dark Souls to try and build on a brand. The first game did fairly well and built some solid foundations. However I agree I would have preferred them to change the name (keeping the souls obviously) and gave us a completely different game and story, like what they did with Demon Souls to Dark Souls. But Dark Souls does have a great story and world with so much we didn't see in the first game, so I'm not unhappy with the decision regarding the name and world.
They say that it is in a different time period and location, but there is a part in the debut trailer that clearly looks like the bird's nest in Firelink, but the nest has been destroyed or abandoned. *shrug*
Not in Lordran either thanks to EDGES info we know that- dark souls 2 might just end up a place holder name till nearer launch?
@J-Blaze "Extra indivudal item/parts won’t be sold as a fee through DLC" "...won't be sold..." ;)
It seems like From and Bamco actually pay attention to fan reaction
this says nothing. I want to know about gameplay, not about engine changes, photo realism and all this stuff. those things are subject to change when game enters into a more complete development status. but gameplay... that is something hard to change once you begin the project. so, give me gameplay. that's all I wanna know.
They only thing that worried me about this list is the "considering ayers to get more directly involved" if there is voice chat the game is ruined. The whole point of not talking to each other was to learn how to communicate by other means. It really added to both games and made the multiplayer really fun.
He might mean there are more sections in the game that improve upon gameplay with coop. Solving puzzles with friends or taking on bosses, this would work if they could implement a system were you can invite a friend. But this would greatly change the original model and I to believe summoning someone to help you don't know in the slightest is unique to the Souls series, sort of the same feeling as when you go through a game like Journey with a complete stranger.
I'm glad that they're going after photo-realism. That could be the best visual style for Dark Soul II.
i wish if developers announce games before 6 months from release date , it's sucks waiting :(...
The most exciting part about this is the last point where they said they are "considering having players get directly involved with one another." I would love for a return of the 3-3 fight from Demon's Souls where you got to be another player's boss. Also, I am glad to see that Miyasaki has the authority to set the team back on the right track. Still worried about that "accessible" statement.
Related or not, as long as this game is fun and excited like the first one. You have my money.
Hopefully, they have Michael Ting Yu Chang as concept artist for the game even though they are aiming for a more realistic approach. I find his artwork deliciously disturbing....
