Do Gamers Even Want Better Stories?

Even though it seems likely that we'll see better story writing in the future, do gamers even want more advanced plots? Is that a widespread desire? (Culture)

YES!!!!
YES GOD DAMNIT!!!

And no we wont see better writing in the future, exactly because of crap like the thumb pic being held up as example of good story telling in a game - DESPITE THE ENDING!

Hell, my other bone of contention - FF13 - is another example of low bar story telling which the series most hardcore fan will defend no matter what.
