Dark Souls 2: 10 Reasons You Should Be Excited

WC - Demon’s Souls and its spiritual successor Dark Souls are games that have divided the opinions of gamers’ across the world. Many gamers, like myself, relish their brutal difficulty and unclear signposting of what is required of the player, whereas others cannot get to grips with it’s harsh learning curve and give up on their experience before it has even truly begun. But now a true sequel to Dark Souls has been announced with differences to its production team and a supposed new direction for the series, with changes that should appeal to all kinds of gamers. (Dark Souls 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

"Accessible Difficulties"

This part really burns. I would hope they dumb the game down on the easier difficulties and reserve much of the content for harder difficulties, so that if you want the full experience you play on the harder modes, but unfortunately this wouldn't be very likely. I really hate the direction video games are going and the Souls series is falling victim to it. Dark Souls III or whatever Souls game will come next will probably hammer yet another nail in core gaming's coffin. It's really sickening. Shit like this ruined gaming for me. Sure you say it's optional but I'd say this is the beginning of the end for hardcore gaming. If I am wrong I'll be happy, but the way things are going the entire industry is abandoning their loyal and supportive fans just so they can pander to the new wave of bro gamers. Fucking sad indeed. No wonder I have been buying less and less games each year since this generation began.

1) Miyazaki may still be in the loop, but the adviser doesn't have the final say in the game. He can give advice and people can completely ignore it.

B) If it does have multiple difficulty settings (which I hope it doesn't), will that affect multiplayer? It'll fracture up the player base even more or be a disaster. A player on beginner is going to help someone on the hardest difficulty? Or a player runs through easy mode at a low soul level to get the top end gear to just invade and grief people on the hardest difficulty? Or you're not gonna be finding anyone around your soul level to help out, get help from, or invade...

III) That sense of "achievement" came from knowing you beat a hard boss / game, not because you had your hand held through it. The series has never been difficult at all. Its just always been unforgiving. You make a mistake, and you pay for it. Death is a part of the game, and its something you learn quickly.

@SegaKnuckles86 I know the feeling. Its like the last series that didn't hold your hand is looking like its about to die out. At least they didn't say anything about regenerating hp...

It's Dark Souls! I don't need any reason or five paragraphs. Can't wait!
