Apple patent seeks to marry TiVo, podcasts, and iTunes Store

A new patent filed by Apple is raising speculation over what may be in store for the future of podcasting. Podcasting began maturing quickly on its own a few years ago, but Apple's embracing of the grassroots movement by giving it an outlet in the iTunes Store in mid-2005 accelerated the process. If this patent doesn't get filed away like so many others, it could be a sign that Apple is readying new tools for podcast listeners to play the on-demand game with the entire iTunes Store podcast directory.
