PlayStation Move: Opinions After Two Years

The PlayStation Move was released just over two years ago and ushered in motion controlled gaming for PlayStation 3 owners. The Game-Modo guys share their experiences and opinions on the PlayStation Move.

What do you think of the PlayStation Move? Are you still using it? What future things do you see Sony using it for? (Playstation Move, PS3)

Mine hasn't been used since kz3, really regret my purchase as I paid MSRP for them

The only reason I have kept my PS Move controller is to play Tumble.

Tumble was great and showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately those titles were few and far between. My main gripe is good software and the camera.

Move was poorly marketed and didn't have the backing of developers.

Seemed like it could be an interesting concept (which is what I felt for the Wii and it's motion controller. Yet the games that come out for it...just aren't that enticing or it just seems cheaply tacked on. Various ideas are abuzz in my head about what the Move and even the Wii could be capable of but it just seems it's much easier not to go that route. I have a PS Move still trying to find some games worth playing for it. I know I'll be picking up Child of Eden soon

"Killzone 3, Resistance 3 do work kinda well with the Move but the calibration is highly complex to get it working well and when it does don't move because it will need re calibrating in Killzone 3 and Resistance 3's settings, surely gaming shouldn't be this complex?"

The first day I used Sharpshooter with the KZ3, I was EXTREMELY frustrated with the calibration. I came very close to returning it. Then I figured out that small, controlled movements were the key to getting it to work properly.

It requires just a bit of patience. But once you get it to work the first time, you never forget how to do it. It took me about two days(2 hours a day) and researching forums to figure out what to do.

During calibration, there are four points at the four corners of your TV. Your not supposed to aim your gun DIRECTLY at each of these points. Instead aim the move just a little bit upwards/downwards from the center of the camera(If ur not using Sharpshooter, DON'T move your arm, just move your wrist slightly), that way when your playing, you don't have to perform these large movements...thus diminishing arm/back strain.

Move REALLY improved the KZ3 experience for me. Same with Infamous 2. It performs okay with RE3 as well. I would recommend it, but I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for the whole set(Sharpshooter, Nav controller, Move controller, PS Eye) considering that only a few games support it REALLY well.

I'm heavily anticipating Bioshock: Infinite and Until Dawn.

Yeah I thought the experience with the sharpshooter on KZ3. But its just like you said, it takes abit of perseverance. Its so worth it though cause nothing else plays like it.

Just a shame its not a standard feature for shooters. It really should be. Have you seen that gun, its like a sharpshooter but works on every shooter?

Yeah, the "MAG" something? Its intriguing, but expensive.

Right now it's finally getting at the right price!

dusty!! and a waste of my money so far, hopefully my kid likes wonderbook and until dawn is actually good then it may get some more use.

Well it was decent, wish there was more support. But like the WiiU i hope the move can be used with the Ps4 except maybe with a upgrade camera since the nav and move controller are already very advance motion technologies.

Simple, make it mandatory for all PS3 games to have a PS Move control scheme.
sdozzo  +   896d ago
It's like move controls is its own beast. Totally different way to game... On all consoles.

Great device but not many games unfortunately. Someone could have easily made a Zelda equivalent for PS3.. There are a couple of great games using the move though and it's worth buying for sure.

I really loved the Move for Air Conflict, the game sucked but the control scheme was great. I wished more flight games used it, and Sony should have patched Wipeout to use it.

I play Socom at least once a week, and I only play it with the sharpshooter. Im surgical with that thing!

its confusing for me as the gun on screen on fps's is on the right and i hold a gun left handed, even though im right handed :/. its confusing because the way im comfortable holding it (left handed) with the sharpshooter the L1 and L2 buttons on the navigator is controlled with my right hand. so the sharpsooter is practically unusable for people like me as it so effing confusing
