2013 is looking to be a massive year for the action genre. The List of action games is quite impressive, but were going to focus on four titles to be early runners for action game of the year. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Bayonetta 2, God of War Ascension, and Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 are all coming out in 2013 and have big name developers attached to them. Two of the four games on the list are developed by Platinum Games, so we know what genre they do best. We’re going to rank what games we think will be best in 2013 from 4th to 1st. Please comment on what you think. Which one of these games are you most excited for, and what game do you think will be the best?

The anti government, controlling the world through dept plot for DmC is their first time writing...
I might have to see what games that writer has done before and what that writer is doing now. Big Thanks, Bubs to you.
EDIT: I see there was more than one writer for Heavenly Sword (Rhianna Pratchett, who is also doing Tomb Raider), the writer for Enslaved (Alex Garland) and Andy Serkis, who was involved with both titles (I seen The Hobbit Friday, and now I understand why I like those two games).
Just saying if you can't remember the name of a character(especially a lead) from a game which apparently prides itself on story. Then the story probably wasn't that good. LOL JUST SAYING.
I wasn't aware of people defending it in the first place.
- DMC got an honorable mention at the end of the article along with The Wonderful 101. I don't DMC will be a bad game, I just think there are better ones out there.
I think they all will be great and do well, but I will reserve judgement until I get to play them all.

Castlevania I will buy once it drops to £20. For me, in terms of gameplay and story, it wasn't as much fun as GoW or Bayonetta for me to buy it day one, it was certainly worth buying brand new at a cheaper price.
DmC however, will be bought from the pre owned Bargain bin.

havent seen any gameplay for bayonetta 2 so i cant say im excited for it but i know it's gonna be great ..
right now im more excited for god of war :P ...

It will mostly be mt 2013 Game of the Year followed by Ground Zeroes.
Even if there isn't, that's not really what Bioshock is about.
As for The Last of Us, honestly it just looks like Uncharted with survival elements. Which is great, but not GoTY material.
If Grand Theft Auto 5 is ANYTHING like GTAIV (other than how detailed the actual city is), then it is most certainly going to be another disappointment. Hopefully they've learned their lesson though, because if GTAV is like GTAIV, then I'll be waiting for a price drop on the next GTA game.

Bayonetta is a vastly superior hack and slash because of the innovation and depth in combat. God of War is cool but its a lot of flash over actual substance.

i'm must be the best H/S gamer of all time
since i used ALOT more combos than this ONE combo in god of war games
the gameplay is awesome and almost perfect
i'm almost thinking that you never played any god of war game before
and in ascension
the gameplay improved alot they add alot of new moves and styles to the gameplay
i have the Single player demo and i played it more than 20 time
alot of H/S games tried to copy it and still didn't match it
like lord of shadows too (which all the reviews said it's god of war's poor man yet you put it on top of your list and also trash the gameplay of god of war and yet you praise lord of shadows)
means you like games that requires no skills, easy and filled with QTEs...have you played Bayonetta? oh i know the game is too hard for you...also, i think Lords of Shadow 2 is looking much better overall than GoW:A imo....until Bayonetta 2 "or probably MGS:R" arrives the first Bayonetta will always be the best in its genre!
Playing Bayonetta on Hard felt like cake. LMAO. Not to mention the story was completely idiotic, and the visuals were dull (even on the 360). Combat is deep but that's as far as it goes. Everything else is crap.
God Of War took the throne of hack n slash games from Devil May Cry in 2005. No other hack n slash game can match it's OVERALL quality. Which is pretty much why it's the highest rated hack n slash franchise out there (Not saying ratings mean everything, but it's something to consider). Also, Castlevania is good, but definitely not not God Of War good.
Castlevania LoS 2... so a CG teaser trailer is better than everything were know about GoW Ascension? hardly. and making that assumption when Castlevania Lords of Shadow 's gameplay was worse than any God of War is funny.

As much as I want to keep faith in GOW, the lack of single player info has me doubtful. I don't give a shit for it's multiplayer.
So I think Castlevania LOS 2 will take the crown. The first one was amazing! Best ending of this gen...

Bayonetta has great combat but everything else that makes it a game is terrible.
Castlevania is God of War lite. It could challenge Dante's Inferno but not GoW.

The only franchises that had a chance blew it with Ninja Theory or made Ninja Gaiden 3..lol.
Story, Graphics, and overall gameplay (not just combat) are what makes God of War the best. It crushes all the others in sales and scores, where it's usually one or the other amongst the lessor Hack and Slash titles.
If it were multiplatform, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
I will love to see a gow open world from santa monica std.
Or why not a demon soul's open world with a deep history and a more iconic main caracter, Identical but polished brutal gameplay that makes DS so cool and fun and more boss's battle but more similar to SOTC.
