Face-Off: Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Wii U

EuroGamer: "It's very rare that we come across a console conversion that radically improves the experience to the point where swathes of text in the original review - not to mention the score - no longer seem relevant, but that's exactly the state of affairs we encounter with the release of this new 'Razor's Edge' edition of Ninja Gaiden 3." (Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Wii U)

wow, sounds like the wii u version is the one to own!

good that they improved the gameplay and removed many of the much hated qte's

also, a large improvement in framerate and graphics over ps3/360...good...may grab it eventually

how can you doubt something that is right there in front of you? Between the 3 versions the Wii U has the worst frame-rate.... -__-

"Wii U frame-rate occasionally can crash significantly, and we definitely felt the difference in the controls."

And that happens because Wii U version has V-Sync to eliminate all screen-tear but at the same time it slows down the overall frame-rate.

"At times, Xbox 360 pulls ahead but always at the expense of image consistency - screen-tear is a very real problem. Wii U occasionally has a frame-rate advantage over its competitors, but can crash significantly, and we definitely felt the difference in the controls." & "While you may feel as though you're wading through treacle when the frame-rate really tanks, the exact same phenomenon is evident on the previously preferred PlayStation 3 version too - we went back to check just to make sure." So i'm sure it has to do with an unoptimized coding, albeit with an improved gameplay and v-sync (and the gameplay enough should is much improved)

own the ps3 version and Wii U version

the PS3 version has more frame rate issues!

as far i can tell and i am on day 7 at the minute the frame rate problems are not as prominent in the Wii U version!

Our overall conclusion here is that no version of Ninja Gaiden 3 has any kind of sustainable advantage over the other. At times, Xbox 360 pulls ahead but always at the expense of image consistency - screen-tear is a very real problem. Wii U occasionally has a frame-rate advantage over its competitors, but can crash significantly, and we definitely felt the difference in the controls

I've been a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series since the NES trilogy and like most people hated 3 and didn't even give a shit about Razor's Edge. I was in the "it can't be fixed" camp. Then I played it, and boy was I wrong. Now the game isn't perfect, the frame rate still dips a lot, much like the PS360 versions, it isn't worse but it's not better. Also the level design is still a bit bland and there's literally no one online. But the good, the combat is improved GREATLY. It feels a lot like Ninja Gaiden II. Multiple weapons, upgrading and playing as Ayane, Momiji or the eventual Kasumi brings a lot of variety and replay value and i'm always trying to beat my high score. Oh, and leaderboard is fun too. It's not an amazing game and by far the weakest entry in the modern trilogy, but it's still a good launch title despite the technical hiccups. And if you're a Ninja Gaiden fan and was disappointed by 3, Razor's Edge improves many of the things people complained about, though this should of been the game people got back in March. But of course if you're interested at all try it for yourself and form you own opinion. Oh, and as tacky as it is, making the women character's...well you know what, bounce with the controller is fun, despite defying the law of physics.

Best quote I've heard so far, "You can polish a turd and make it shine but in the end it doesn't matter if that turd still stinks"!

I wanted this game to be good and it is good and possibly better than the other two versions, but that doesn't change the fact that this game is still broken. I wish they would've just canned this version and made a new Ninja Gaiden that us fans deserve. Maybe next time but until then, hopefully Bayonetta 2 is able to give us what Ninja Gaiden didn't...

At the end of the day, the wii-u version has smaller boobs. Also, PS3 version seems to have a little AF or something. (not aa, AF is a completely different thing)

I'm not rebuying this game twice. I'm sorry.

This is a mute comparison. I would sooner buy this game if it released on 3Ds or Vita rather than home consoles again... at least that way I can say, I have it on a portable and at home...instead of saying I have it for 2 different home consoles...

Vita got Sigma 2 plus hopefully it will get Ninja gaiden 3 plus :)
