Insomniac on Fuse Box Art: "We Took Some Creative Risks"

When the box art for Fuse was revealed last month, it fared no better in the eyes of critics than did its dull transition from the seemingly inspired and spirited Overstrike. Aside from the cliche space-marine look of the four figures, the bland grey backdrop, and the explosions of orange everywhere, the most notable feature was the characters' heads - or lack thereof. According to Insomniac's CEO Ted Price, this was an intentional and deliberate move.

LOL...

No you didn't it looks like your game...generic and boring.

Riderz13371384d ago

You just had to sell your soul to EA didn't you Insomniac. You made my most loved franchise, Ratchet & Clank. Looking at the creativity and originality of that game and then looking at Fuse....What happened?

-Mika-1384d ago

They most likely got tired of working on the same ips. Insominiac only worked on Resistance and the ratchet and clank ips for two gens. They were just tired of it and they wanted to try something new.

EA is what happen to the creativity. They're funding the game Afterall so if they want you to change something. You have to change it. Simple as that. Sony does this with some of their ips. Uncharted was suppose to be a fantasy game but sony told ND to make it more realistic.

Only worked on Resistance and Ratchet and Clank? Did you forget, I don't know, SPYRO THE GODDAMN DRAGON?

*rolls eyes at Mika for the 15 billionth time*

There's two reasons, a bigger profit by releasing it on two platforms and owning their own IP. Sony owns ratchet and clank and resistance. Insomniac owns the fuse IP.

Soldierone1383d ago

@MynameisEvil, Insomniac hasn't worked with Spyro since PS1. Thus PS2 and ps3 are Two generations of constant Ratchet and Resistance.

Though I don't agree with the excuse. IG could have easily told Sony "let us do something new" and it would have happened, only issue is Sony would have wanted full rights to it.

Heavenly King1383d ago

Uncharted was never meant to be a fantasy game. Are you on crack?! DAFAQ!

Skips1383d ago

That was back in 2006 or something. lol

And that's really the ONLY franchise I've ever heard Sony change. Because last time I checked, it was like this if you did a game for Sony.

I bet it was EA who made them change the game.

Focus group. Or, as I call it "F***ed Us" Group

GSpartan7771383d ago

O_O It's box art talking season?

Braid1383d ago

Yep, when there's nothing to talk about, you start talking about cover arts. Except, there are always plenty of other things to talk about.

They say that the reason the heads are out of the picture is because they were trying to pull attention to the weapons, but I can barely see the weapons...

spicelicka1383d ago

exactly lol, wtf kind of reason is that, the weapons just look regular guns with orange crap coming out. They should've just shown the guns then. And no one would make that connection unless Price's description came written on the cover.

I think there's something to it. EA has a gun behind insomniac's head, and as a spokesman Ted Price is just forced to defend EA's demands.
