Here Are Some Reasons Why The Last of Us Should Be Great

The Last of Us is an upcoming third person action-adventure/survival game by Naughty Dog, makers of universally acclaimed games such as the Crash Bandicoot series, Jak and Daxter and, more recently, the Uncharted series. It is set for release on May 7th 2013 for the Playstation 3 and is my most anticipated game of 2013 (this is subject to change depending on a Metal Gear Solid release date). I would now like to take the time to explain to you why that is. (Metal Gear, PS3, The Last Of Us)

their attention to detail still amazes me. I honestly feel their character designs are top notch unlike other games where characters are beyond ugly.

You speak the truth. Once the last disposable razor has gone dull, and society has (sadly) forgotten how to use cut-throats, men will grow beards.

All they had to say was that Naughty Dog is making it...

That is such a naive statement. Yes ND is making it, and by their track record they are good at what they do but to just blindly follow any publisher/dev is not a good show for gamers.

As the companies will get the idea that they can put anything together and it will sell. Currently some companies are doing this and doing it well!

There are certain developers that have earned the prestige of having their fans buy their games every time. There are also once great developers that lost that prestige such as Capcom and Square Enix.

Does anyone really think Naughty Dog are going to rest on their laurels and just coast?

They're the last devs who would do that. Faith in the quality of their upcoming games is justified. Its not blindly following, its informed opinion.

Yes there are only two developers in which I would buy any title they release, that is Naughty Dog and Rockstar.

“There are risks to this because now the group knows. The AI know about each other – they’re searching rooms and they split up but then they’re going to reform and one of them doesn’t show up, he’s going to start asking, ‘Where’d he go?’ They’re going to start looking for their buddy and they’re going to start getting panicked, like ‘Something’s up.’ Suddenly there’s a risk even to taking out somebody stealthily and you still have to move around. That’s part of our dynamic AI system here, our dynamic stealth."

This is why this game is raising the bar, and not just in graphics and story telling. AI has stood stagnant for too long, and I think once this game is out and had time to be digested other devs are going to look at their games and say, damn, we need to do better.

i can't think of any game this gen with that kind of dynamic AI

its made by ND who have a long history of making great games that i love

that's my only reason
ozzywazzy  +   680d ago
There need not be reasons! It's Naughty Dog.
BigStef71  +   680d ago
The one and only reason is that Naughty Dog is making it!!!!! You never have to worry when they make a game because the quality is there

Would it be bold to ironically name this game the best new IP this gen this late in it?
