Nintendo & Sega in Holy Matrimony?

The Wii U is now out and it’s only a matter of time before Sony and MS answer back with their own sets of hardware. Meanwhile, this is the key moment for Nintendo to gather as many third party studios as possible. With the start of Bayonetta 2 being an exclusive, one main question comes out – Will Nintendo be able to bring out more exclusive surprises like this one? (3DS, Nintendo DS, Wii, Wii U)

I wonder what will happen if we added Rare to that wedding of epicness
Neonridr  +   623d ago
Unfortunately nobody still works at Rare who were there during the N64 glory days of Goldeneye, Conker, Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie.
lilbroRx  +   623d ago
That Rare no longer exists. They created Free Radical, pandered to Sony when the PS3 came out and died.

Don't expect to ever see the games you saw in the old days. The only great games from post split Rare are remakes of the games made by old Rare.

I wanna see what the heck Retro is working on. They need to let retro do their own shooter. I think with enough time and a few devlopers from studios that closed or have shooter experience itd be nice. Once retro put its magic touch on it of course.

Too bad the old Rare is gone... Damn, I really miss those days. The ol' good days... T.T

My dream, but could lead to horrible horrible consequences

Sega's fate affects Nintendo's. Clearly Sega is but a fraction of what it used to be. When was the last good sonic game released? Clearly they've made some unfortunate mistakes and I don't want to see Nintendo fall under a similar pattern. I highly doubt it, because Nintendo seems to resist exterior influence, but it's still a concern to me

wait, didn't PG say they were going to show off something like few weeks ago?
MegaLagann  +   624d ago
That was Kamiya trolling people on Twitter. He does that a lot.
shackdaddy  +   624d ago
I just hope the Total War series doesn't get completely screwed up if it somehow happens. I love those games...

exfatal  +   624d ago
My god if they do end up becoming one and the same... i cant wait for them to announce it at e3 it be epic if they announced as a new super smash bros game with sega characters lol. Pit vs Vyse loved to see that unfold lol
teezanpleez  +   624d ago
so the best games are going to be on the Wii U. thats what ur saying ??
wiiulee  +   624d ago
they should purchase sega...sega was first gaming company to have an online structure, they can help there, also their games and bring genesis does style commercials for wiiu
NoFanboyRequired  +   624d ago
Yes they were, but the guy that was behind it works/worked at Microsoft and helped build Xbox LIVE. If you did a bit of research, you could probably find his name.

So what xbox live is today, would probably be something similar to segas online infrastructure if they still had a console.

I don't know how I truly feel about Nintendo possibly acquiring Sega, but one positive would be future release of back catalog since Ninty has the finances and truly nurture their oldest titles. I wish Sega would do the same and bring back old titles that brought them success, they need to release more Saturn and Dreamcast titles on XBLA and PSN.

As much as buying a system for only a handful of games goes against everything I believe in.. If Sega still owns the Shenmue IP and Nintendo brought it to life, I'd pick up a Wii U no questions asked.
MegaLagann  +   624d ago
I don't give a shit if Shenmue III is on the Atari Jarguar or N-Gage, I just want my fucking Shenmue III!

Nintendo and Sega is a match made in Heaven! Imagine a Sonic game made by those two! Also, Sega could make F-Zero Wii U since GX was awesome.
Outside_ofthe_Box  +   624d ago
A match made in Heaven set the fires in hell...
Neonridr  +   623d ago
It would be a strong move by Nintendo to do such a thing. But a lot of good could come from having Sega make games exclusively for the big N.
