Five Early Contenders For GOTY 2013

When the clock strikes midnight on December 31st 2012, we will officially be entering into an exciting, new year of gaming. With news of next gen consoles and the development of new I.P.s on the horizon, it’s becoming clearer with each passing day that 2013 will indeed be a monster year for video games. To celebrate this special occasion, I wanted to take the time to acknowledge my five early contenders for GOTY 2013. This list highlights games that I feel will have the strongest impact on the industry and gamers overall next year.

Next year is going to be awesome compared to this year. GTA V, The Last of Us, Beyond, Watch_Dogs, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, there goes my money.

Next year GOTY is going to be Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 * sarcasm *

Now... from the list, the games I'm expecting the most is GTA5 and Bioshock, after that it's Tomb Raider, Last of Us and Watch Dogs.

Yes confirmed ....Watch Dogs is schedule to launch in 2013 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. “Watch Dogs will be coming next year,” Guillemot said, in reference to the AAA titles Ubisoft has scheduled for 2013.

The last of us and watch dogs are a couple that really have me itching to get my hands on them.

And what of any possible yet unannounced next gen games, if they do indeed make it in 13"?

I am still in hopes of a "miracle" announcement of the "last guardian" for 13", will just keep waiting, and waiting, but am still in high hopes for it.

Another is "Media molecule's" new IP they have talked of. I cannot wait to see what the core team have been up to with this new game, I am sure creativity, style, innovation, and original gameplay will be a part of the package...

Tomb Raider 2013 seems decent but not GOTY material imo. I won't say anything about GTAV because I never really got into that franchise all that much. The Last of Us seems pretty stand-out and while I'm sure it'll be good I just can't see it taking GOTY, same with Bioshock: Infinite. Honestly, I think if anything has a real shot, it'll be Watch Dogs but that's only provided Ubisoft can deliver more like what we saw at E3.

Knowing Ubisoft though, it'll deliver, but there will be many flaws (that won't be fixed until the sequel).

It is just like my list. The only difference i would make is replace Tomb Raider[reboot 2013] with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

the games on the list are the confirmed 2013 release games, i doubt the new MGS will release next year but if it does, it's a instant GOTY lol

Obviously too early to tell, but Dark Souls 2 has a shot in my opinion, based only on the previous two Souls games which are my two favorite experiences of this generation.

Sucks for FarCry 3. It will have been out nearly a year by next years shows. Which means it will be overlooked by games that come out in the spring/summer 2013. Because those will be new/fresh to everyone at the time.

You're absolutely right about Far Cry 3. I'm playing through this game now and I have no idea why it isn't get more praise then it deserves. Obviously one can say that the delayed release hurt their chances of getting more shine but in all honesty the game is top notch and should be played by any fan of first person shooters and open world gameplay.

the last of us looks to be goty, its been a while since a exclusive won GOTY and 2013 could be a exclusive year.

GTA won win, it will sell but the reviews will be 8/10's. a modern day san andres whipty doo

uncharted 3 won 70+ goty award in 2011
and The Legend of Zelda also won alot of game of the year awards
exclusives games ike ps3 and wii win Goty awards all the time

and yes LAST OF US will get the goty if rockstar doesnt pay anything.

Add to that list Ni No Kuni but for RPG of the year & quite possible BEST RPG of this generation, I cant say for sure yet that spot still belong to Xenoblade atm, so I just need to w8 & see for my self.
