AusGamers recently had a chance to catch up with Crystal Dynamics' Brian Horton who serves as senior art director on the Tomb Raider reboot.
Among topics discussed, Brian told AusGamers that high-end PC owners will be "very, very happy" with how they've treated the game on the desktop platform and that they definitely went back to Lara's roots to hit the right notes with Tomb Raider.
"The essence of [the original] game actually had a mature flavour to it, and I think we brought it a little bit back to that Tomb Raider One flavour, versus the more storybook flavour that it achieved as it progressed as a game," Horton told AG.
But it was in the need for this reboot to resonate, successfully, with gamers he was most candid, explaining that they've essentially gone all in.
"We’re one hundred percent focused right now on Tomb Raider," he said. "There is obviously potential for the future -- we’re always thinking about the future in some capacity -- but we know if we don’t get...
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Like the film or television industry, the world of gaming has seen its fair share of reboots over the years. While some of these video game reboots have had
>Says the game is about survival
>Gives you regenerating health
i hope reviewers compare this reboot to the original tomb raider..and uncharted..and see if they did really well on this..
I have Beefy PC for me im a old laura fan.
To me this isn't Tomb Raider. I want to play as LARA CROFT, not some girl who has no skills and screams when being hurt etc.
Tomb Raider was all about escapism, to play as a sexy woman who could do anything and fight dinosaurs etc.
I'll give this one a try, but might not buy it day one, wait and see what reviews describe it as. I was really hoping for the game to follow the traditional tombraider path. I really enjoyed the last 3 games the most.
