'Ni No Kuni' Preview: The JRPG you've been waiting for | StickSkills

StickSkills said, "If you’ve been looking for a solid, charming JRPG on modern consoles, I implore you give the Ni No Kuni demo a download. This isn’t a game that’s attempting to stretch the genre in new directions, but after experiencing two segments of Oliver’s extended adventure, I feel confident in saying it doesn’t have to. Feed me an interesting story, fun battle system and creative characters, and I’ll absolutely set innovation to the side for the sake of good, old-fashioned fun. Hopefully, it all lives up to the promise when Ni No Kuni hits the PlayStation 3 on Jan. 22, 2013."

It's sad to look forward to a time after holiday festivities, but this game couldn't come any sooner...It would've made the perfect Christmas gift under my tree.

Nexgensensation1325d ago

thats why I want this game to be succesful! we gamers do not have much good games and this is the game we need to have!

j-blaze1325d ago (Edited 1325d ago )

i wonder why are they hyping this game so much, i mean the game look beautiful but they also made it look soo kiddy, the characters nor the enemies are interesting, overall it can't be better than Xillia

edit: why every time i comment i get so may disagrees wth is with you ppl!!

@ below

you're wrong, i don't have problem with them being teenagers but in this game the main hero is freaking 7yo kid and i hate that...also, a character design with fashionable hair and clothing you may call it gay or whatever, i call it art...

andibandit1325d ago

Isnt that almost the case with every jrpg....the all kids/teenagers cast with fashionable hair and clothing makes me want to throw up

Catoplepas1325d ago (Edited 1325d ago )

Awww, look at the two of you together. I can practically hear the zing zing zing of your heartstrings.

Lets face it, this has nothing to do with it being a JRPG, and everything to do with it being a PS exclusive.

If it were an exclusive title for another woefully unsupported platform that shall go unnamed, you'd both flip positions faster than a chameleon changes colour.

Oliver isn't supposed to be a flashy "fashionable" spends-10$-a-day-for-hair-prod ucts hero à la Cloud Strife, just an ordinary boy that gets thrown into a great fairy tale adventure, with no need for superfluous belts and pockets.

People are hyping this game so much because it is made by 1: Level 5, a great game company that's well known for creating great RPGs and other games (Rogue Galaxy, Dragon Quest IX, Professor Layton to name a few);

And by 2: Studio Ghibli, a legendary anime studio that created some of the most affecting anime movies of our time, like Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke, to name a few.

If you've seen those movies and played a Professor Layton game, you'll understand where the art style comes from, and you'd know that even if the look is childish (because it is), their story more often than not have enough heart to satisfy even an adult's imagination.
