Elite: Dangerous and a Look Back at Elite

I wasn’t born when Elite was released onto the world but my god have I seen the revolutionary impact that game has had on the industry. Elite is a game so genuinely ahead of its time, so very influential that it seems so ridiculously unfair for one game to be able to transform games the way it did. What made it so amazing? Not one aspect but two. Not only was Elite the first game on home computers to be 3D, but the first to allow the user completely non linear freedom in a big way. Elite gives you a small trading ship, a hundred quid and sends you on your way out to into space (Elite, PC)
