A look at the highs and lows of Spike's Video Game Awards. Where do The Phantom Pain, Jessica Alba, and The Walking Dead fall?
(Culture, Industry, PC, PS3, The Phantom Pain, Xbox 360)
And in the end it's still a show that is meant to entertain and I was fully entertaint. Of course it's a bit over the top sometimes, but it's a pleasent combination of a not boring and not ordinary award show and videogames.
Wrong-Giving people their award on the red carpet. They thought it was a joke completely disrespectful. Wrong-The interview with Jennifer Hale. Right-The ochestra they hired, but they should have done more with that. Wrong-Putting sam in game's, precious time that should have been used for more awards.
"Right: The Walking Dead: The Game, Game of the Year."
No...wrong
A game like that only won because it had more of a fanbase spilt into three differnt types of media. Comics, TV Series and the Video Games. People who only read comics for example would vote for it just because it's the walking dead despite not playing on it.
It's good don't get me wrong but it's nothing special, very over rated. If it had been Journey fair enough, I mean I don't understand how it won Best downloadable for example but didn't win GOTY.
For me it's the actual lack of world premieres...Tomb Raider, Bioshock, Last of Us, South Park, Gears of War we already knew about. The only surprizes were Demon Souls, Lord of Shadows 2 and The Phantom Pain.
Plus I have no idea where the hell that game "Old school gamers" would enjoy like Geoff teased weeks before the show.
The game for old school gamers was probably Dark Souls 2. Alot of old school gamers love the Demon/dark souls series because of the difficulty and that was probably what he was referring to.
Exactly...Fallout 4 is overdue now and I honestly was under the impression that there would have been a major announcement there for it from Bethesda. I was disappointed and it makes me wonder where it lies as far as a release date is concerned. I'm really hoping we'll see a teaser in early Spring or at least before E3.
Or how about Doom 4 or Half-life 3 for that matter? I could understand HL3 not being shown (since there probably isn't much now), but we know Doom 4 is in production.
3 MAJOR games that would have absolutely stole the spotlight from the show just by being mentioned alone...
Jeez, no matter what happens in this industry we love, there's always negativity....

...and if 'Journey' had won game of the year (being exclusive to PS3) the haters would still be hating ....right?
Walking Dead Game is more entertaining than another point and shoot game o_o
Halo 4
At least they got one award right ;-)
