Disney Fairies Lost & Found app for iOS donates £1 to children's charity with every sale - TGV

The Gaming Vault writes:

"Now here’s a worthy cause to get behind; if you buy Disney Fairies: Lost and Found for 69p from the Apple App Store for iOS, Disney will donate £1 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (only until 25th Dec).

Predominantly aimed at the young un’s, Disney Fairies: Lost & Found, is a hidden-objects game for iPhone and iPad set in Pixie Hollow. In it, younger gamers will be spotting lost objects ranging from animals and treasures to other secrets against the clock. To further enhance the experience, a cast of film fairies taken straight from Disney’s movies will be loitering about for them to interact with.

Additionally, playing through the entire game will also unlock a completely unique story: Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings, providing the small ones with a tangible reward for playing the game." (Disney Fairies: Lost & Found, Mobile)

If you pay 69p for the app and they donate £1, then they're really only donating 31p and getting nothing on the app, which they probably shouldn't be charging for anyway.
Would it really kill a multi-billion dollar company to just donate some cash to a charity without trying to sell their products?

Well no because your forgetting that Apple takes quite a large chunk out of the 69p. So they are giving more. Also just giving money isn't the point. They are raising awareness. It is a great way to advertise a good cause by saying if you buy this we will do this for X charity

Oh yeah, i forgot that Apple would take a bite out of any profits a company that makes an app get.
Still though, i think large companies like Disney should just donate money regardless of sales.
Donating a sum of, lets say €10.000 for Disney would be the same as you or me donating 50c.
Pocket change to them could be the difference between life and death for a lot of those children who depend on charities, so like i said, i think they should donate regardless of sales.

Their hearts are in the right place, though, GreenRanger. They are trying to give people something in return for giving money to a worthwhile cause (something that they will no doubt buy anyway).

What is it about people nowadays that they have to find the negative in every single thing and exaggerate that to no end. Stop being so cynical about everything and be happy that they are having their hearts in the right place.
