Agreed. Regardless of the differences between Far Cry 2 and the latest entry FC3 is still an amazing open world game.

Main campaign took me around 20 hours to complete on the highest difficulty level. Could be less/more depending on how you play it. I haven't tried to do everything in the game but my guess would be around 40-45 hours.

I am glad they really took all the best from FC2 and removed all the worst. FC2 was awesome minus the "malaria" which drove me insane on how stupid and annoying that was. I can't wait to play this. Looks really fun.

Roughly 10-15 hours doing SP if you want to do it thoroughly. I've almost completed every thing on the island but not sure exactly how many hours I've poured into it.

Everything in hindsight should take 30-40 hours.

Best game of the year to me and one of the best this gen. Just today i was wandering around near a river when i saw a dude just casually walking by. I start walking towards him and then BAM out of nowhere a crocodile grabs him and the dude disappears in the water and i just thought: WTF was that!? That right there is gaming moment that i will remember for many years to come.

That guy was me. About 3 hours ago I was creeping up a riverbank to take an enemy encampment and BAM this fricking croc jumped out and got my ass. I am playing with Sennheiser 380HD pro headphones and it scared me so bad I screamed like a little girl.

Agreed,best game this year and possibly this gen in my opinion. I was silently taking a base from afar with my sniper,had two heavys left so thought I'd take them out with my knife now I unlocked that skill, get near and bam a bloody leopard grabs me and kills me before I can pull out my assault rifle. Moments like that make this game so special

I'm stunned how great fc3 is.
I was fully ready to dismiss mp....haven't tried co-op yet.

But mp is slick. It's not blowing doors or anything....but very good.

Back to sp:
I got chased by a leopard for what seemed like miles. (I ran out of ammo in the middle of a fire fight I was winning....stupid leopard decided no you don't!) So....I make to a river and was going to dive in....I of course get grabbed by a croc! Scares this sh!t out of me!
I struggle and get ready to die by the leopard waiting fur me....instead he decides the croc is the better bet!!!! Wtf! Lol
I ran like the wind. Looked back and the they were still dancing. Lol

That is what is awesome about open world games made right. The best stories are the ones you create yourself. That sounds more epic than anything that could have been written into the game.

Im going to have to give this game a try.

I really think that if FC3 was released a bit earlier, and didn't get snagged by a delay, could well have been GOTY in many more gamer's eyes.

Just beat the campaign, and yet I don't even feel close to done. Probably the first platinum trophy I'll get just because I love the game and not because I'm a trophy whore. Still excited to play co-op and MP; well after I get all those outposts, letters, side missions, hunting missions dead man missions, trials of rackyat.This game just keeps giving. This is what a Cabela's game should be like. I like killin the animals more than the bad guys. Definitely the real GOTY.

Love this game! Open world is the only way to play. Then add all the random elements to it. It will never get old as it's always changing/different. Sneaking through the woods. Then a storm moves in....just epic. Spying down on a bad guy fort. Crossing a dirt road and you hear a truck coming. You really feel like run quick and hide before they see me. Swiming in the ocean fighting off sharks. The game has it all.
