Is The Phantom Pain Really Metal Gear Solid 5?

Metal Arcade says: "New trailer for a new IP from a new dev... or is Kojima just toying with us again?" (Industry, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PS3, Xbox 360)

I think it has something to do with ground Zeroes. Whether it leads up to the start of the game or something.

I totally agree...

Nothing about that looked current gen to me.

I think it`s Metal Gear Solid 5 and I think it`s a next-gen game that will launch w/ the PS4 like MGS2 did w/ the PS2. Sony knows how much PS3 fans loved MGS4 and Kojima obviously has NO intention of bringing MGS4 to the 360 (knowing there is a high, high demand for it).

You do realize that Konami owns MGS and Kojima works for Konami.

As much as Kojima loves Sony and the PS brand he does not have the last say on MGS 5 being multiplat or exclusive, the owners/shareholders decide that.

If you were the president of Konami would you

A. release MGS 5 on one platform and make a descent amount of money

or

B. Release it on as much platforms as possible and make GTA 4 numbers.

Sony would have to pay Konami allot of money to keep MGS5 exclusive and I do not see Sony doing that becuase they do not have that type of money to splurge.

Konami already confirmed that all games on the Fox Engine will be mutliplat and will all play and look the same.

@knight crawler

Everyone keeps saying this... but it doesn't answer the question of why MGS4 is not on the 360 currently. And it`s not because MGS4 isn't possible on the 360, it would just take alot of discs to do it. So why isn't there?

it may be a game related to metal gear solid in some way but it's not MGS: GZ nor MGS5.
judging by the cutscenes, characters look and design, set pieces, it's very clear that this game is made by a western studio not KP, Kojima himself is probably involved tho

@ Maria

MGS4 will not be exclusive forever u know, Kojima-san will eventually bring the game to other platforms "wii u or next gen MS console" just like the HD collection. MGS5 will be multiplat

It`s possible. But, let`s be real about something here..... people have been saying that about Metal Gear Solid 4 for 4 years now and still nothing, even after the MGS:HD Collection.

I'm not sure if it will ever come to the Xbox 360. It's a bit late for that. I think Sony and Konami had a partnership in keeping it exclusive. This game on the other hand will most likely be on both systems and they will want to show off the new engine which is designed to work on various platforms.

@ Maria that's true, but I think that's more to do with Konami being busy with other things than not wanting to do a multiplat release. It took them four years just to patch the trophies in MGS4!

so how many more articles of this are we going to get?

Good question. Mission accomplished, Kojima. Even though the interwebz figured him out, he got people talking.

-I just love Metal Gear Solid trailer breakdowns! They're so cryptic and fun, it's like working for Magic during WWII, I really think they took Ground Zero's and the Elements of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (which could have been remade) and Combined the whole mess into what is going to be MGS:V! :D

-Does anyone think that Big Boss looks a little Skinny? Like maybe hes been in a coma?

He doesn't look as rough/gruff as he does in the Ground Zero's trailer.

-Also, I think this was a missed opportunity for Solid Snake (granted Big Boss was comatose) ala Daryl Hanna in Kill Bill! ^_^
