Anthony Accinelli of RealSG writes, "Sex in video games isn't something new. It's been around for a while, but tends to be covered up.
Far Cry 3 is a different story."
WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO UNLESS YOU HAVE BEATEN THE GAME. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Anyway, I think this is gross. What about the female gamers that are playing this game. When I saw this scene. I felt weird. I felt awkward and it left me wondering why it didn't get an "Adult" rating. It just was not classy or romantic in any way. It was just too much. I hope next time. The developers acknowledge that females will be playing their game and they would find an alternate option that would appeal to us.
I'm pretty sure the majority of females playing Far Cry 3 won't see an issue. Not many people are as prudish as you appear to be.
Btw, when on Earth is Detox going to come out?! I've just bought a pair of wireless Beats as well!
On topic: I find the inclusion of sex really odd in videogames. Maybe it's the execution, or it's implementation feels forced...I dunno.
Saying that, I actually find its inclusion in movies odd too. The only time I really enjoyed it was in the Black Swan....but hey...who didn't enjoy that scene ;)
Sex in games? For me...nah......I prefer to kill things, but that's just me.
Let me propose an alternative here :)
Ok lets say the new tomb raider game has lara "romance" someone and all the scenes focus on the man partaking in the act and we get all these amazing shots of muscles and other areas women find attractive... And 0% focus on Lara...
I bet you wouldn't be against that right?
Oh and how is it weird to find an animated character attractive? You've called atleast 98%... NEIGH!!! 99% of the human population weird.
....just to be clear, despite my distaste for the main characters it's still one of my favorite games of the year.

Why do ladies get hung up over these things. When I'm playing tomb raider I accept I'm playing a female character and if Lara acts in a feminine way then so be it, I don't find that odd.
Obviously mass effect had the best solution but that's an awful lot of work for most developers and in the case of far crys story wouldn't have really worked without having two vastly different stories for each gender seeing as friends and girlfriend supporting characters are in there driving the story.
Why he'd be someone who'd be turned on is because~ TADA....HUMAN INSTINCTS! And our psychological arousal system. It features sex, is about sex, it isn't real, but it implies the act of sex which activates our hormones anyways. Result? Arousal! I'd hope you'd learn such things in Bio class or Psyche class.
Sorry if sex scars you as you say so. If a game features sex, it must cater to the position that if you're a female whom are playing a Male-char in a story-driven game, FUCK EVERYTHING! No sex scene or else it might weird people out. Sorry that sex is taboo to you, especially if you're put into a Male-perspective. Silly males.
Though I will say, your Princess-like definition of what sex is by a norm or what you imply it to me, aka... Classy or 'Romantic sex'....Well, I can't say much I guess....enjoy your vanilla sex? I guess? I'll take my instinctual and rowdy sex any time over vanilla, Hollywood romantic-movie bullshit any time.

So an alternate option... you wanna see Jason penetrating you in first person? That just weird.
She can't but complain. It's just her nature.
An animated character can be porn like anything else. Whether it is an animated video game character, picture in a smut magazine, or a video on a screen, they are all artificial images that are not really there. Your mind is doing most of the work. But guess what...when you are having real sex with a real person your mind is doing most of the work there too.
@Mika - Men are simple, we like beauty and food. Men respond to visual stimulation. Be it a real woman or a picture, men respond to beauty. For a real woman it's a simple formula. 1)Keep the weight off + 2)Doll yourself up just a little = 3)Watch all the men around you get dumber and do all kinds of dumb things for you that they wouldn't do before.
@deep_fried_bum_cake - I don't know if sex is never classy but I know it is better when it is not classy.
@Lord_Sloth - You are right. That is all.
@MeetMyHand - Girls and guys like the same porn.
Look I know thats not love per say, and I know survival attitude isn't a necessity. My point is that stop taking it personally. This is a mature game and it's to be expected. Women want equal rights, well she showed her tits like he showd his in the game. Besides, people know that not all women are like that and that was of this ones own free will. That doesnt make all women like that. It just shows this particular individuals choice to sleep with the character. Calm down, sex is more a part of life than killing is so why hide it. IT'S NOT A BAD THING
"Well, if you gotta go...
...go with a smile!"
:D
....which is a ridiculous argument for so many reasons, one of them being that it's no less than a logical fallacy (tu quoque).
Sexuality, just like violence, is often inserted gratuitously into video games. The act's right to appear in our art does not automatically validate it's presence from a contextual perspective, but in the two instances it happens in this game, it actually makes contextual sense. That's what separates a simple depiction of sex from pornography.
hummm... killing people violently in games by gun, knife, grenade, etc, is not going to far... but a sex scene that we hardly see anything at all, is going to far. /s
4 words... SHUT THE F*CK UP (STFU).
Sexual stuff is everyday-stuff. You experience it from day to day, whether you're a man or a women makes no difference. It also plays a major role in advertising, TV, movies, books, discussion - really, everywhere you look.
Violence on the other hand is not - at least not in that drastic amount. The game deals with the problems of coming from a "normal" life and getting thrown into a violent hell where the protagonist is pratically forced to murder people and you complaing about a little sexual depiction?

A) Think "she is probably pregnant with my kid and I'm dying so I should let her live to protect my offspring
OR
B) Use your last breath to reach up and grab her, pull the knife out of your chest and stab her to death with it.
Decisions, decisions.
Young people are so conservative these days, I'm 45, people my age are way less uptight about these things than 20something gaming bloggers.
1- If your a male and you are complaining about this....you are probably just trying to get hits on your news.
2- If you are a female and think that these scenes are sexist...please...STOP what you are doing and look around you.
IN CONCLUSION, if the story permits it, sex scenes are appropriate! UBISOFT did a wonderful job with this game, so haters...stop F-in hating
2. He wasn't hitting it right cause if he was she would not be quoting Shakespeare or whatever she was saying.
3. How is this scene relevant to the story...who knows but I'm sure the Developers spend way too much time watching POV Porno!
4. too me spending time on sex scenes in Movies and Games just takes away from the art of the Movie or Game....if you want sex scenes there's a Porno App for that!
1. Any connoisseur of adult entertainment (approx. 3/4 of the ppl. who posted coments here, that includes the ladies, don't front! LoL) knows there is ONLY one correct way to end a "POV sex scene" & that wasn't it...
2. (Free tip guys!) That's why you don't let women on top. (LoL, fail'd bro!)
That said I love when a woman speaks a foriegn language while we're "doin' it". Usually it's spanish but extra points if she speaks something I've never heard before! (Free tip ladies!) Most guys love this so if you speak another language that's when you should use it! You could curse a guy out in another language, we don't care that's even hotter!

Irrelevant; poorly executed; or poorly paced, yes, all the time, but as matter of degrees - never.
Then you sir have not explored the internet enough.
:D
Who the f- cares; why not attack Heavy Rain for having a much more deeper sex scene, or Fear Effect 2 for having lesbian sex, or how about attacking Hot Coffee again after 8 years of nothing important? Some of these journalists need to grow up and stop copy-catting each other for hits.
Game sex scene: ERMAHGERD IT'S FILTH THINK OF THE CHILDREN
Pisses me off when something as natural as sex can be made out to be almost Taboo-like when it comes to video games.
Personally don't care. Sure might be a little awkward if you have company over and that pops up, but whatever. Not like sex isn't found in literally every other form of media..... try to watch R rated movies without running into it....
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
BAM!!
That's more like it! OH MY GOD!!! Look a breast nipple!! Someone call the police, this shit just got crazy!!!
NO.
IN FACT, VIOLENCE ISN'T A PROBLEM EITHER.
IT'S A VIDEOGAME
Its not sex scene. if you move the characters view you can see your pants are infact on, also later you see the scene in a (VASS)hallucination and again you see your pants are on she is topless yes but she is dancing. Most cultures dance in combination with medication-or drugs. as it is part of their culture.
My question would be why are you taking your eyes away from the chicks breasts to look down at your characters package?
JOURNALISM!
Can't believe crap like this is a top story on N4G once again.
Movies - Sex is ok.
TV Shows - Sex is ok.
Video Games - OMG WHY IS THERE SEX IN HERE?????
.....re-tar-ded....
:)
Hell, even Mass Effect tackled issues like racism, freedom of thought, bigotry, artificial intelligence compared to the "Us vs Them" dynamic that is far too often all-encompassing in modern video games.
Boy I do miss the 90's...
Murder, however, takes alot more than that and isn't a problem in today's society.
