The return of living room gaming: Why I'm buying a Wii U

itproportal.com: I haven’t owned a gaming console since 1997, when GoldenEye 007 seemed to be the apex of technological sophistication. The console, a Nintendo 64, was powered by an NEC processor clocked at 100MHz with 24KB of L1 cache. Those specs are laughable now, but at the time they marked a massive leap from N64’s predecessor, Super Nintendo. (Nintendo, Wii U)

lets see how many people hate on the wii-u today many without even playing it.

There's a stark contrast between hate and bringing up valid criticisms or complaints. For one thing I like the idea that Nintendo really pushes bringing the family unit together or playing the old fashioned way with real friends next to you. Too many games have now gone away with split-screen for example in favor of online multiplayer. I wish most games would offer both.

However...

One of the biggest reasons on getting a Wii U is to play with the new gamepad. Problem being is some games utilize the screen features best if you have more than one person. That's not always the ideal situation for many. That's not hate, that's just offering a different point of view.

Interesting and honest point of view. I respect where this writer is coming from. This is why I think Wii U will succeed. The console caters to all tastes, and to people of all different gaming preferences. The sit around the tv and have a fun party with a group of friends type will be more than satisfied. And those looking to play Call of Duty, Bayonetta 2, all of EA's massive library and Nintendo's 1st party games will be covered. As long as Nintendo maintains third party support this time around, I think the future is bright.

I promised myself I would hold out a year into the great 1st party games arrived but each day is getting harder. My 2 friends that own it love it and wont stop talking about it. I want to play around with Miiverse and stuff. I can't hold out much longer.

Dude dont punish yourself...go out and get it, its a very good system and the games will come. Why limit yourself now when you already plan on getting it anyway. Enjoy the first run of games until the big dogs are released !
