3 things HD DVD coulda, shoulda done to be a contenda

Good points, but really, I'm not sure anything mattered once the PS3 was out.

Including Blu-ray in the PS3 was the perfect way to ensure that there would almost certainly be more Blu-ray players in households than HD-DVD players. And at that point, you've already lost.

Including HD-DVD in the 360 simply wasn't feasible. At the time, it probably would've raised the 360's price at least $200, and at that price, no one would've bought it anyway. The PS3 only sold at $600 because of the brand name recognition that comes from winning 2 console wars. Even then, sales didn't really take off until the price drops.
