Microsoft has just revealed its November total for the Xbox 360 in the US. Following a massive Black Friday week surge, the Xbox 360 managed a total of 1.26 million for the month. It was the 23rd consecutive month that Xbox 360 managed to come out as the top selling console. (Industry, Microsoft, Xbox 360)

Microsoft is destroying sales-wise. Credit goes to the good games they've been pumping out lately like Halo 4.

Sony: start preparing for fall 2013 so you don't look like a chump 2 yrs in a row!

"only in America" is the saying, right?
darx  +   168d ago
Yes that is the saying. So what's your point?
PeZuS  +   168d ago
That Sony doesn't need to come out on top in USA to be number 1 worldwide...
Dlacy13g  +   168d ago
@PeZuS .... umm... Sony wont be number 1 regardless of where they finish compared to MS....Nintendo says hello.

MS actually sold over 2 million consoles little over November
"It's worth noting, however, that what the NPD Group considers "November" is actually October 28 through November 24, which means that sales from the Sunday and Monday following Black Friday did not contribute."

"As has become the routine, Microsoft holds top honors as far as console sales are concerned, with consumers purchasing 1.26 million Xbox 360s over the course of November and 750,000 during Black Friday week alone."

http://www.joystiq.com/2012...

That is some very strong sales and likely beat last years ridiculous sales numbers.

Congrats MS! Now, hurry and release the next Xbox.

@Dlacy: I mean monthly/weekly/yearly sales from now on WW. Wii has all but dropped off the map.
Alderney  +   168d ago
@PeZuS

"I mean sales from now on worldwide."

That is some hardcore grasping of straws. Wow.

This generation will go down in history as the emergence of the Xbox 360, the domination of the casual Nintendo Wii, and the collapse of the Playstation brand.

Not saying the PS3 isn't a success. But when compared to the PS2...well...just take a look a Sony's current financial situation.

@Alderney:

The looser from last generation is the only ones that gained from this generation. Sony had everything to loose and they lost their shirt.

Arguably Nintendo gained the most, not from just more console sold, but also mind share. Nintendo's brand is very strong right now, and so is MS.

Sony's glory days are long over, so we gotta wait until next generation when the reset button is hit. Just this time, the other brands is stronger than ever.

I'm hoping for a 3-way tie with intense competition. That is how we got some really awesome products like Wii motion controls and then Kinect.

I've been saying it since E3, MS set the 360 up for a potential great holiday season.

They didn't break records this year, as you had the Wii-U launch and the PS3 is still going to have it's success as well, but when you launched 7 years ago it is definately huge that you remain on top in your biggest region.

After E3 they bashed Micrsoft for leading with Halo 4 and finishing with Black Ops 2.

Fast forward and they are thanking those two titles for helping them grab 1 billion plus sales in a month.

But let's face it, it's time for the new console, it would be suicide for them to not move onto the 720 next year.

I hope so but Microsoft is milking it for all its worth. Don't blame them since they keep selling and making money.
EVILDEAD360  +   168d ago
I think they got it right in terms of how many years they have gone this gen with the 360.

But if they wait another year, I would definately agree with you on the milking thing

Why are all the Sony fanboys disagreeing with you?

As a PS3 lover myself, I gotta give credit where it's due. MS is doing a great job promoting the Xbox. Sony should take notes.
B-radical  +   168d ago
Dont worry about the ps3 fan boys ahah xbox has won this war next year when the new consoles roll in it may be different.....guess we can say wii has ultimately won sales wise tho aha
PeZuS  +   168d ago
Grasping at straws? Are you even aware of WW yearly sales of the consoles? If not, you'd better check them out. Might come as a surprise to you.

Well for one Xbox Live is relatively cheap even more so when you have the family plan split between friends which is $25/year per person.

The same people that complain about the price of Xbox Live have phone contracts that cost them $100 a month. Xbox Live is still no where close to the cost of a average paid MMO but we'll see where it goes in the future. I don't see Microsoft making Xbox Live a free service anytime soon.

i dont't expect them do with these results. good for them.

Congrats MS and thank you for the great memories, bring on the 720.

Edit: @ KonaBro below, what are you talking about...as the Xbox 360 enters its seventh year on the market, Microsoft has announced that its second game console has sold 70 million units worldwide since it launched in 2005. It still trails the 96.56 million Wii consoles Nintendo has sold, but in terms of competing with Sony’s PlayStation 3, it’s still in the lead by about 6.1 million units.

Even with seven years under its belt, the Xbox 360 isn’t slowing down. Microsoft is slowly rolling out a new Dashboard update that’ll add a customizable UI, Internet Explorer and Xbox Music to the game console. Add the new possibilities of SmartGlass and the Xbox 360 doesn’t look like it even needs to be replaced any time soon.

Microsoft is also generously slashing $50 off most Xbox 360 consoles and selling new holiday bundles to make its console the best gaming deal this year.

People forget that MS is the youngest out of the 3 in the console business and people left them for dead because how bad the first Xbox sold but they managed to prove people wrong by making the 360 Americas favorite console.

God bless America.

6.1 million? Yeahhhh I don't think so.
KonaBro  +   168d ago
It does make you wonder....
How does Microsoft feel about selling over a million to Americans who are invested in MS and not being able to sell as well in Europe or at all in Asia? Surely, they must have some strategy because if they are planning on relying on America to save them every Xmas, it's going to come back to bite them.

They are big in the UK as well. And since NA is still the biggest consumer market it's obvious that you don't need to have the "whole" (HA) world won over but just certain markets to keep you ahead and profitable.

The 360 had a great month comparably to the rest of the consoles but it was still in decline YOY. To be honest that makes me happy because continued declining numbers even though they are good in comparison will hopefully keep MS on a path to new hardware for 2013.
