PSUni's Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Demo Impressions

PSUni: "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a game in development by Level-5 Studios in collaboration with Studio Ghibli. Level-5 is responsible for many classics in the RPG genre, ranging from titles like Dark Cloud 1&2 all the way to Rogue Galaxy and White Knight Chronicles. Studio Ghibli makes some of the highest quality animated films in the world and one of their more recent works, Spirited Away, even earned an Oscar for best animated film. Ni No Kuni aims to bring those two studios together in the holy matrimony of gaming with an epic RPG to end this console generation." (Level-5, Namco Bandai, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, PS3, Studio Ghibli)

Ni no Kuni is one of a handfull of games to get a "legendary" rating from the dedecated RPG rpgland.com

they say:

"It turns on the charm, the entertainment, and the fun from the first hours, and doesn’t turn them off throughout the entire duration of the sixty hours you’ll probably spend finishing it..Full completion of the game will require at least 100 hours from most people"

"There is no 'that one part' or 'that one dungeon' that drags it down...Nothing about this game is phoned in"

"the battle system is engaging and doesn’t require any grinding"

"It recaptures that intangible spirit of the SNES-era RPG — that perfect blend of story, characters, environment, mechanics and design that drew so many people to the genre in the first place. If you have decried the state of the modern RPG and long for an experience reminiscent of Chrono Trigger, Earthbound or Final Fantasy IV, you owe it to yourself to try Ni no Kuni"

You do or should have access to the demo.

What do *YOU* think of it?

This should fix the JRPG need I've been having on this console generation. Tales of Graces F was a good serving, but now, THIS looks like the real deal.

I mean, I cleared the demo a couple of time already and am not tired of the game, so the full thing should be awesome. And what a pretty overworld music for such a pretty overworld.

I'm in love.

Looks like the real deal? This is the first true rpg this gen if you ask me. And whether it's good or not, I'm not sure, but I'm just thankful that even with the active turnbased combat, this is the closest to dragon warrior or any true jrpg that we've had this whole generation.

Ya it an amazing game. Xenoblade is going to have to step down because Ni no kuni is the best Jrpg this gen. It was just so fresh and nostalgic.

I Loved the demo and agree with this review over the other "Ni No Kuni disappointing demo" crap article.

I'm not familiar with the other article, but I am glad you agree with mine :) I really really loved playing it and cannot wait to get my hands on it next month!

I will not read or watch any review on this game. I like it the way the battle system and the story as a whole..i loved the demo if you just play it and wonder around this game will give you tons of hours to level up the character just the map alone would make you realize how big the final game would be a little bit repetitive yet enjoying..farming would be a key to enjoying this game and that is what i like on a rpg..sorry for those guys who didnt enjoy it

This game will suck........several dozens of hours from my life LOL! The demo was amazing and this will be my first day-one-purchase in years. Can't wait!

Can't wait. I've been replaying the demo quite some time and finally got some candy drops for my critters. The evolution system seems well done, with different snack altering different stats, and as I see it, you can only evolve a monster once it has eaten enough food.

Gnnnnnnn january 22 is so far away now.
