***You see, Nintendo is arguably the most criticized video game hardware and software maker in the world.***

It's also the most heavily praised...

A lot of those points made I've never really heard. And, most of them, really aren't as common as ones for 360 (RRoD, shooter console, pay to play, etc.) and PS3 (unsecure, blu-ray player, linear exclusives, etc.).

The praise Nintendo receives is mostly from the non-gaming medium. CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews, etc. Those outlets sing Nintendo's praise. Meanwhile, GameTrailers, Kotaku, and many others say a lot of negative things. Remember, this isn't always the writers themselves... but the fan base responses to what the writers say.

You have to go outside of ones own bubble and you will quickly see how badly Nintendo is being painted right now by the general internet gaming populace.

Edit: Besides, this is about what outside opinion says about Nintendo. Not really about what good things outsiders say. Afterall, it's opinions Nintendo fans hate, not love. :P

As mentioned, a few of these I've never heard and a few are pretty much rewordings of the same thing. And I don't consider myself 'in a bubble' considering I end up reading more than the average user on all articles.

#10 - I've never heard it be directed to just two shooters, but overall hardcore AAA games of all types. And this is directed not at all Nintendo fans, of which many are hardcore, but people who buy games like Just Dance, Zumba, Wii Fitness, and the like and never buy games like MadWorld or No More Heroes. With WiiU, a lot of that has gone away.

#9 - I've heard this one. I've never agreed with it.

#8 - Never heard this one. Seems a bit of hyperbole as what I have heard is that Nintendo needs to go HD. I don't disagree with that sentiment considering TVs are heading that way.

#7 - See #10.

#6 - I've heard it a few times, but it's been overshadowed by people who praise Nintendo for innovating on motion controls and now with their pad gaming. I've been vocal about my feelings about motion gaming and the Wii Pad because I don't see them as improving on gaming, just trying to change how you do it. I don't see that as improving on the quality of games, just obfuscating the same thing with different motions.

#5 - Eh, I hear this more about PS Vita and Nintendo seems to be fine as they cater to a younger audience who won't have a phone and like the games on it (not to say they aren't good for adults, but if you've seen their recent advertisements, it's all about the kids in them).

#4 - See #10 and #5.

#3 - Never heard of this one.

#2 - Never heard of this one.

#1 - See #10

@Cgoodno
I've heard all of them. The Xenoblade/other M one I think was just an example to represent a specific mindset devoted to games with widely split opinion. The shooting game one was as well.

Honestly, I don't hear nearly as much criticism for Nintendo as for Sony OR Microsoft.

MaxXAttaxX1330d ago (Edited 1330d ago )

I don't get the point of it, but it sounds like the author only got half the story for each one of the points and made generalizations based on them.

Seriously, even though Nintendo deserves criticism in several areas, it still does not get anywhere near the same amount of criticism as... other/s.

Nintendo praise outweighs the criticism.

Bad list is bad.

if you're a gamer then there can be absolutely no reason to hate nintendo because without them the videogame business would most likely not exist...and without nintendo any innovation, controllers, systems..etc would not exist...without nintendo any franchises that motivated people to keep videogames in mind would not exist.....and they have put together a great new system call the wiiu so instead of hating go buy it and give it a chance..they got all third parties on board.....of course if you're a childish hater and dont know the history of videogames and talk about processing numbers while having no idea what they mean except you like pretty pictures...then you will hate nintendo all day.....but wiiu will win next gen guarantee

MaxXAttaxX1330d ago

You think Nintendo is the only company capable of innovation? Controllers and systems would not exist?? What?
And when you say "win"....

TheBatman_Fanatic1330d ago

Weren't there gaming consoles before Nintendo though? One of those Atari consoles - before my time, I've just heard of it.

fatstarr1331d ago
