"The nominees for the 55th Grammy awards are now up, with the choices for "Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media" including the likes of The Adventures Of Tintin, The Dark Knight Rises, and..Journey?!
That's right, Austin Wintory's marvelous work on the emotionally captivating PS3 exclusive Journey got a Grammy nomination. Videogame music at the Grammy's is a fairly recent phenomenon, with Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu" from Civilization 4 winning a Grammy back in 2011.
I'd love to see Journey trounce its (admittedly) intimidating competition, which includes John Williams' The Adventures Of Tintin - The Secret of the Unicorn, Hans Zimmer's The Dark Knight Rises, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Ludovic Bource's The Artist, and Howard Shore's Hugo.
Say what you want about the Grammy's (GWAR's Oderus Urungus having a few choice words about them that I agree with), but seeing a videogame composer being recognized in a mainstream award ceremony like this is a momentous occasion."

The composer behind Journey, Austin Wintory, recently had a chance to revisit the classic game, just in time for its tenth anniversary.
My fav indie game ever, played this on ps4 and ps5. Too bad it does not have a plat trophy.
Jenova Chen told us about the development of the game.
Today, veteran game developers with experience on games like Journey, Skyrim, Spider-Man, Edith Finch, Ratchet & Clank and more, have come together to announce a brand new game studio, Gardens.
Concept artist has a very distinct style and if they can translate that into the game well this studio will be making some visually stunning games.
Congrats to ThatGameCompany Well deserved.
Journey is my GOTY.
It better have.
First video game soundtrack to be nominated for that category. That is quite an achievement. Well deserved!
Amazing soundtrack. I'd still give my GOTY to Gravity Rush, however.
