"I've never played Morrowind..." Stopped reading right there. Why get the rookie kid to review an Elder Scrolls product?

Agreed. It's really rather important to judge a sequel based on it's predecessors, and if you haven't experienced but two games in a 5 game series you really shouldn't judge any of it.
