FiringSquad's Next Gen Console War Report Part 4

John JCal Callaham gives a rundown of the current state of the console war, and what each platform must do to succeed.

"It's been about five months since (FiringSquad's) last report from the front lines of the current generation game console war. Since that time the Christmas/holiday time period has boosted both hardware and software sales of all three consoles in the US. However, the overall 'winner' of the war is still very much in doubt. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are all still in the running in the US but events in 2008 could finally settle who will be the ultimate victor. Let's take a look at the status of the three consoles and what (FiringSquad) would do in order for them to win this already brutal war."

As long as MS continues to bring the caliber of games that they have for the past two years, I don't see myself buying another ps3.

Hopefully, Age of Conan gets released this year.

@harryvvv
There are two pages about the ps3. You must have accidently skipped it.

to be connected by faith.
should sony release even better
software,would you
consider buying a ps3 then?
another ps3?what do you mean.

I bought a ps3 not long after it launched. It didn't live up to the hype sony created (or should I say lied about), so after about 8 monthes, I sold it. The blu-ray player was the only thing that I got any use out of. I'm not buying $30 movies. So the movies I watched were rentals. I could download HD movies on my 360, without ever leaving the house. So when a friend offered me $400 for it, I sold it.

If the software line-up of the ps3 greatly improved, I might break down and get another one. But honestly, there is nothing so far on the 2008 ps3 line-up that I care for.

Firing Squad doesn't know it's history, and if they can't recognize a come back similar to the PSOne and PS2, then they just have their heads up their @$$e$.
And what's with this "shortage" of 360's? I live in LA and they're in ample supply at all of the Fry's, Best Buys, Targets and Toys 'R' Us'. Seems to me that M$ is trying to pull a Nintendo by faking a shortage...pathetic, like their fanboys and their sales, pathetic.

Ps3 has a smaller library, inferior gaming hardware, inferior online gaming, less exclusives, and is MORE EXPENSIVE. You are obviously one of those 5 million idiots that Sony's David Reeves said would buy a ps3 just because of brand recognition.

inferior gaming hardware- look at the 360 33% hardware failure
less exclusives- the 360 former exclusives are coming to ps3 as well
smaller library- growing everyday
expensive- $400 is not that expensive, idiot.

Wow. "wouldnt call it a comeback just yet"

If you cant call it that then that means ps3 never went away.

He needs to read what happened with the ps2 and write the article again. Its all the same right down to all the doubters and haters. unbelievable.
