You know that it is replacing data, right? It's not just as though it keeps adding up. Also, I assume you are one of the ones who still believes that the last update was actually 5gb.
I think it depends on the circumstances. Mine's been going longer than an hour but my friend got through it in around twenty minutes.
EDIT: While I know it fixes some technical issues, I am curious as to what exactly this update does.
@LaWiiG
Does that really increase the connection speed? My PS3 has been wirelessly connected to my router and has almost never given me the issues my Wii gave me (no real issues outside of these slow updates for my Wii U).
Mine has been chugging away for about 20mins. I have a decent connection and router. I did however grab one of the LAN adapters from eBay. Can't come soon enough.
Mine didn't take long at all considering the size, took around 20 minutes if that! Didn't really notice it because it was downloading in the background. As long as Nintendo allows for these updates to be downloadable in the background and I'm able to continue playing my game, I really could care less how long it takes. I was able to see how long it took because of my activity log. It said I was playing AC:III for twenty minutes, the same time I cancelled my download and resumed playing. The cool thing is that if you cancel your download it resumes it in the background.
It looks like they've improved the memory management. Exiting apps back to the Wii U Menu is faster, as are re-loads of the aforementioned apps. So I suspect it's keeping things in memory more for faster switching.
The first update that supposedly took a few hours took 40 minutes for me and didn't brick anyone's console. I downloaded and installed this new update within 10 minutes. If it's taking hours to update you need to check with your ISP.
lol haters...its a firmware it takes a moment to download..didnt the xbox360, ps3 and vita just had firmware updates not long ago...is nintendo's firmware the only one that is suppose to magically appear on your system....haters will hate but the wiiu is here to stay...
It might be for TVii though?
But not entirely. Some of that new data is still building up.

I stopped reading after this point. Good day.
who guessed wrong!

Well played, Nintendo. Well played.
I got this done in under 30 min, with 2 pc being used and fiber tv being used.,
To be honest, I don't see how this update improves anything. The load times still seem dreadfully long.
Give me a break.. will you always write an entire article about any update about the wii u ?? well i guess you have no life...
Just stop bitching will ya -.-
It's not stacking up. After install the downloaded update package is removed.
>posts bullshit
