Vista SP1 Updates Stall Out Some PCs

Some systems are thrust into endless reboots after receiving Vista SP1 updates, according to messages posted to the company's support site.

Microsoft said it is investigating the reports.

Last Tuesday, Microsoft started sending Vista users two final prerequisite updates that are required before SP1 can be installed in March. The updates to the operating system's install components were delivered via Windows Updates, which automatically downloaded and installed them on the majority of Vista machines.

Users quickly started squawking.

The story is too old to be commented.

SP1 has been working perfectly for me since the RTM was released. Of course I reboot about once a week and I hate external hard drives.

I've been gaming on Vista since retail release with no real problems. People just need to learn to use compatible hardware.

I'll be gaming on vista for the first time later today...don't know whether to be excited or afraid, to be honest.

you should be fine as long as you have compatible hardware on your pc. Like i have vista on my laptop, with 2gb memory and 200gb hard drive. And almost all of my software are now vista compatible or at least emulated to be compatible.
