Ingólfur, managing editor at Eskimo Press: "Call of Duty returns for another annual installment in the franchise. This time around CoD is back in black for another bout of covert ops in war torn republics in Black Ops II. Treyarch bring a host of new additions to the franchise in an attempt to mix things up a little. The result is a huge game with plenty of bang for your buck, but does Black Ops II do enough to separate itself from previous CoD games?" 8.5/10
Um, what's Modern Warefare?
Grammatical niggles aside, I'm really not feeling Black Ops II - primarily because the PS3 version is an absolute mess. Not only is the spawn system utterly effed-up, but lag compensation punishes me heavily for having super-fast broadband. Even with 4-bar connection, download speeds of 63MB and upload speeds of 17MB, I'm still being out-gunned by people with 2/3-bars. It's bulls**t.
Props to Treyarch for the innovation they introduced with Pick 10 and such, but I'm not impressed with the game's multiplayer at all. I've since gone back to Battlefield 3, because it doesn't screw me over for having a top-end internet package.
