Straight-Up Nostalgia: PlayStation

GameStop announced that they would stop trading and selling old PlayStation 1 games as of June 2006. Out with the old, in with the “not-new?” I began to fear that these games would be lost forever and that I had a very short amount of time to play them. (Culture, PlayStation 1, PS2, PS3, PSP)

God I miss my ps1, it is in the loft in a trunk making sure no dust accumulates.

However I still play my ps1 games on my ps3 and if that doesnt work will play it on my ps2.

FF 7, 8, 9
Hogs of war
Demoltion darby
Croc ledgend of the gobos
Vagrant stroies
Spyro
Crash Bandicoot

are just a few of the games I still dust off and play.

The PS1 is my first console, I used to love Crash Bandicoot back in the day, I still do like it as a series but Activision just ruined it now, shame. :(

PS1 is still my favorite console. Nothing comes close to the variety it had. Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Tekken 2 and 3, Sould Blade, Need for Speed 3, Deathtrap Dungeon, Gex, Nightmare Creatures, Resident Evil, Moto Racer, Fighting Force, Gran Turismo, Destruction Derby, Croc...and I could go on and on. Today, it's pretty much one shooter after the other.

I remember the day I got my PlayStation, I played the hell out of the Einhander Demo, watched the videos to Resident Evil 2 and MGS countless times, and rented FF7 which I was charged a late fee because I was over a week behind on returning it.

You can say PlayStation murdered my social life in High School, and do NOT regret one minute of it.

Xenogears, Suikoden II, Front Mission 3, Legend of Legaia, FFVIII and Crono Trigger.

Those were my favorite rpg's on that system. I dare not make a list of my favorite ps1 games cause they're just so many.

I still have my Playstation and it's still working but I've decided to not use it anymore to prevent it from breaking. So many great games and happy memories from that system. I have to thank Nintendo for pissing off Sony since without that incident we wouldn't have this awesome console.

I still have mine!

Man, the PS1 had so many diverse games on it. Bushido Blade, Nightmare Creatures, Tenchu, Mr.Domino, Kurushi Final, Vib Ribbon, Fear Effect and so many other great games.

One big thing that is missing from this generation is variety. Due to the amount of investment required for games these days, it's understandable that originality has to be left at the door to satiate the corporates and to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

The PSone was the very first console i bought with my own money i saved. Getting it with FF7 is a memory i will never forget in my gaming life, spending nearly a week nonstop playing FF7....oh how glorious it was.

Ever since that day i have been a fan of the PS brand & i do not regret it one bit. My most cherious gaming memories have been on PS brand systems.

The PSone is such an big deal in the game industry since it was with the release of this that E3 was born. All these gaming sites we see nowadays have the PSone to thank for making the gaming the huge industry it is now. That is the legacy of the PSone.

PS One was a Force of Nature Phenomenon. It was The Beatles of Gaming.
Nothing stood in its way.

When Nintendo was considered as kids toys PlayStation made gaming a legit mainstream adult form of e

Used to be a Sega Mega Drive loyalist back then. Got me a Saturn first as a follow up to my 16-bit system. I shunned the new kids on the block Sony PlayStation. But when Saturn went slow in games being a true gamer I am was hungry for more games.

And then I decided to give my cousin's PSOne a try and I was blown away by Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Final Fantasy Tactics.

It was a radical departure from the SNES & Mega Drive.
The games were deep and long to my amazement. The 3D graphics were smoother than Saturn's.

So many memories of gaming goodness.

i finished Resident Evil a couple of times in one sitting with out saving on a memory card...those were the days!

My favorite systems in order:
Ps1
Ps3
NES
Ps2
Snes
N64

To hell with that rip-off known as xbox (and currently, I find the Wii U underwhelming). Sony and (sometimes) Nintendo, for life!
