‘New Super Mario Bros. U’ has a "hard mode", and it makes the game incredible

NintendoEverything's Austin says: Seasoned Mario players may complain about the lack of challenging and iconic moments in the ‘New Super Mario Bros. series, but the latest entry may have that magic hidden away behind optional “sidequests”. (3DS, New Super Mario Bros Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo, Nintendo DS, Wii, Wii U)

Are you serious? Of course the game becomes harder if you try to get all the star coins. This isn't anything new to this entry, this applied to all previous NSMB games as well.

Of course Mario Bros U becomes easy if you just run and jump straight to the flagpole in the end. But where's the joy in that? Try and uncover all the game's secrets, and you're in for quite a ride.

Me too, buddy, me too. I've racked up an absurd amount of lives on Mario Bros. U, but I've also lost an absurd amount of lives hunting for star coins and secrets.

In my opinion, NSMBU is the best 2D Mario since Mario World.
