BioShock Infinite’s cover art is lackluster but has purpose

GameZone writes, "While this is purely my opinion, I feel the need to point out the fact that I feel that the cover art for BioShock Infinite is just mediocre. The heroic pose of Booker DeWitt instantly reminds me of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune cover art or even any moment depcting Ash Williams from Army of Darkness. With a project as amazingly awesome and awe inspiring as BioShock Infinite, it comes down to me just wanting something more original and something I shouldn’t be able to compare to anything within the first five seconds of looking at it." (BioShock: Infinite, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

I think it looks cool.

I think it looks pretty awesome as well. Also, the author zoomed into just show Booker, but there are much more to the cover.

I think it's a great idea.. they try to show Booker and Elizabeth relationship on the cover which is the main theme of this game

I think the cover was a pretty bad choice as it was a complete turnoff. If I didn't know better about the game, I would have avoided it.

Wow, are we seriously getting multiple articles on the cover of Bioshock being weak?

Nonsense!

Hey a company does something wrong, you let them know about it...big or small. It shows them that there fanbase cares...and they are a force not to be reckoned with, you know to keep in mind with future decisions.

The game is going to be amazing and the cover box isn't even bad compared to what else has been released.

And in my opinion the company didn't do anything wrong. I saw the cover and thought nothing of it. I was more excited that this gem was coming soon.

Could the art be approved upon? Sure, but what box art couldn't be approved upon after the fact.
Every one of them can.

You want to talk bad cover art:

Yea, let's talk bad covers now! HA!

Ben, those covers are from YEARS ago. Standards have changed. When you see a beautiful box art, you should appreciate it. When you see a distasteful one, you should comment on its distastefulness.

We're talking about a company who should be caring about the substance of the entire package they're releasing. With a series like BioShock, most people expected better than a generic 'hero with gun looking deep in thought' look that has become almost a running joke.

I'm just shocked that Elizabeth isn't on the front of this and neither is the Songbird. As someone who appreciates fine art, they could've done so much more. Something less generic and something that represents the game a little better than a man with a gun who's visage you won't even see for the entire game. And I know Gordon is on the cover of Half-Life 2, but that's simply because he is iconic and it's neither generic nor distasteful.

They shouldve had Songbird protecting/being with Elizabeth, similar to the past covers of Big Daddy's and Little Sisters

Whats wrong with the cover? All these whiny b!tchs complaining about the cover but no one says why its no good, looks perfectly fine to me.
MidnytRain  +   198d ago
It's been criticized because it's generic and doesn't reflect how unique the game is. Box art is a form of advertisement, so it needs to stand out more than it currently does. We've seen this same box art a dozen times.

End of the world. If the game turns out well nobody is not going to buy it just because of box art. People really are idiots.
