Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 Fail To Frag Black Ops 2

For fans of first person shooters, 2012 has been a busy year, with the release of Black Ops 2, Halo 4, and Borderlands 2. In the span of a few months, we have gone from dusty Pandora and its cast of crazy characters in Borderlands 2 to the lead-ridden cities of Black Ops 2 and, of course, back to the futuristic, alien worlds of Halo 4. I love all of these games, but I was surprised at just how much Call of Duty Black Ops 2 dominated the first week sales, and ultimately refuses to give up the crown as the King of FPS. (Borderlands 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Halo 4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Dont see the point of articles like this. I dont think either of these games done bad in terms of sales. Each game have their own fan base, alas BO2 has the biggest. I dont think dev's make games, esp Halo 4 and BL2 devs, to compete with BO2. I remember last year they did a similar article comparing BF3 vs MW3 which was a more legit article.

However, quality over quantity is a different matter.

This article is pointless. No one was expecting Halo 4 or Borderlands 2 to dethrone COD.

BF3 on the other hand was being labelled a COD killer which it failed to actually do so Its a different situation.

Being part of a herd of sheep and following a trend can make any game "king."

Quality > Quantity

One thing I've learned this gen is. The better shooters always sell less.

They both fragged BO2 in terms of quality and review scores. Plus one is exclusive, so it would never sell as much as a popular title on 3 consoles and PC.

And the other is a franchise which was at first declared "doomed" by the media only to sell over 6 million copies and have the sequel sell over 2 million copies in the first month alone. Plus, neither was ever deemed a CoD killer.

I wouldn't call BO2 a "bad quality" game. It seems to be a perfectly decent COD game.

I may have skipped it (was busy with the other games mentioned, both of which are great), but for people who still love the COD formula, it looks to be a good entry in the series. Sure, the engine is showing its age, but it's obvious that the hardcore fans care more about a stable 60 fps than prettier textures.

It's the same shit you've bought since '07. Spare me the fabrications.

I didn't buy the game (the last COD I bought was MW2), but it's clear that BO2 at least tried some new things.

Were you expecting them to completely toss out a formula that's guaranteed to sell like crazy?

Well yeah, it's call of duty. Every one breaks a sales record and nobody can do anything about that. People know that there are better games that they can play if they want to hop off the CoD train. Borderlands 2, Halo 4, and AC3 are fantastic. I'm not gonna trash Black Ops 2 because this one appeared to have effort put into it. I'm still waiting for the SMG and Remington balancing Treyarch...

Battlefield 3 as of to date has sold 15 million copies roughly which is pretty darn good!

LOL Halo 4 and borderlands has garnered more critical acclaim than Black Ops 2. Its obvious Halo 4 will not sell more since its an xbox exclusive, though both games are pretty close on the 360. BO2 sold 6 million, Halo 4 sold 4 million. Which isn't bad

Yeah, in terms of sales perhaps. In terms of quality and enjoyment, however, Borderlands 2 easily trumps Black Ops 2 (can't speak for Halo 4 as I don't have an Xbox).

Black Ops 2 lasted six hours before I opted to sell it; the PS3's multiplayer is a technical nightmare. The spawn system's an absolute joke, and lag compensation punishes me for having super-fast broadband. I hop on Battlefield 3 and my multiplayer experience is unhindered, yet on Treyarch's latest I'm rubber-banding like a mofo. Go figure.

As many say above, quantity and quality are very different.

i dont care about sales,
sales doenst mean good game...fact is they r more kids in the video game industry....a reason why cod sell that much

bordelands 2 rape blops 2 easily in term of gameplay and story

a ferrari sale less cars than a toyota that doesnt mean the toyota is the better car

first of all, i don’t why Halo 4 is being compared to BO2 because if Halo 4 was multi platform it would sell either over BO2 or give it a good run for its money. But its not so for the amount that halo 4 has sold for one console is good in my opinion.

BL2 vs BO2, i am not of fan of BL2 and believe i tried but it does catch my attention and there is really no competitive side in BL2 all you do is mostly play the same missions over and over just to level your character and then have plus version of the missions that make things a little harder but once you get the best weapons in the game, these mission become a piece of cake every time you play thus making to repetitive then later becoming boring in my opinion.

BO2 i am not a huge fan of BO2 either but its does have replay value one thing i noticed about BO2 from the previous COD’s is that its not the same match everytime you play at least for me. i always have good games and have my bad games and i have fun doing it. then when i play with friends i have even more fun. Although COD seems to be the same game everytime it is made its just fun everytime i play maybe because i like the competitiveness.

But like someone said every game has its fan base and i for one can respect that, i think if your having fun than that all that matters. once again this is just my opinion so i hope no is offending by my review of this article.

I'm sure non of any of our favorite musicians will sell more than lady gaga or katy perry. Doesn't indicate quality. I enjoyed Halo 4 and Borderlands 2 way more than I enjoyed Black Ops 2. Some things gain massive popularity for unknown reasons. I guess it's more of an opinion than anything, but sales in no way indicate quality.
