Confronting Ozymandias: The struggle to preserve gaming history

Unlike other mediums, video games are uniquely anchored to the original hardware for which they were designed. How can we preserve the classics to inform future generations of players and developers? (Culture, Desert Bus, E.T, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Goldeneye 007, Journey, Pac-Man, PC, PS3, Retro, Shadow of the Colossus, Xbox 360)
