Will Nintendo meet its Wii U sales target?

With Wii U now sold out in many shops across the UK, Nintendo is now rushing to refill high street stores and the warehouses of online chains. It has predicted a worldwide shipment of 3.5 million consoles by the end of the year, and 5.5 million by the end of the financial year in March. But how many of these will be snapped up by shoppers?

Eurogamer has canvassed the opinion of high street retailers and entertainment analysts to find out - and discover what could be to blame if Nintendo is left with piles of unwanted consoles after the initial launch rush. (Nintendo, Wii U)

5.5 million isn't a hard goal to reach by March at all! So yea, they will hit that, the question is will momentum continue afterwards.

Yes. The real question thought is will they be able to sustain the sales numbers once the next gen of consoles roll out.

I think the answer to that is something Nintendo should be solely focusing on as what will make the difference will be the software from third party developers.

People will buy IT for the novelty of the Tablet screen SURE! But will forget about it once the REAL "next gen" consoles arrive...

I'm actually expecting a little bit less. Instead of 5.5 million I'm predicting 5 million which are still pretty good sales
