Farcry 3. played it.
Graphically is a huge overhype (not trying to troll).

Atleast when it comes to PC, its huge hype.
Poor textures, poor water, poor asset density.

What I mean, is I ran both crysis/warhead and farcry 3 guess which was more impressive graphically?

2007 game.

Its a hard fact i've been trying to look past, but cant. Farcry 3 does have amazing character models (with SSAO disabled); gun models and its animations are top notch.

Still, reviews are overhyping this game like they do COD; 9/10s are bullshit these days. This game is a pure console port, all the PC effects were an afterthought and the overblown SSAO proves it.

Hype train, N4G marketing FTL.

You focus on the wrong thing - graphics.

In order to have the same amazing gaming experience that console player do, the graphics have to meet a certain standard, while console gamers are just having an absolute BLAST with this.

This is why I feel sorry for PC gamers - the graphics have to be of 'high standard' in order to get the same awesome experience console gamers do, otherwise it downgrades it for them.

As to the most important part - GAMEPLAY. The game is amazing. The sheer size of the world and the huge sense of exploration is awesome.

The stealth aspect is surprisingly well done as well

Killing animals is actually useful, as it increase your inventory size etc.

Absolutely LOVING IT so far!

I actually have to disagree. As someone who's been a PC gamer for friggin' years, I far from understand you. While, yes, you are certainly correct, Crysis 1 is the better looking game, I don't remember anyone saying it would look better than that game. Hell, Crysis 3 doesn't and won't look as that game.

However, to go, "Hurrdurr, it doesn't look as Crysis, so it doesn't look fantastic!" is just preposterous. The textures, water, asset density, as you mentioned are far from poor. Are they Crysis-level? No, but they're far from poor.

To say that the game is a console port is also just stupid. I've yet to play a straight-up console port that's even half as well-optimized as this game. It has an FoV slider (even if it's not clear what FoV you're choosing. I just pushed it almost all the way to the right, feeling like it's around 100 degrees), which console ports never include, and the PC effects are fine. SSAO is perhaps a bit, "OHOLYSHIT, WHAT HAPPENED??" even on low but, as far as I can tell, there isn't a problem with anything else except that d-pad thing that pops up when you equip weapons into your load-out and when you equip syringes.

As far as console-to-PC ports go, this is far from a "pure console port." It's a port with lots of effort put into it. That's not to say they couldn't have given us HUD scale sliders and, hell, gotten rid of those DAMN D-PADS (ugh), but it's still a great port nonetheless, beaten only by Dishonored and Borderlands 2 this year.

So, yeah. Well-optimized, good amount of options (could've been more, but that's because I just like seeing dozens of options in my menu to mess about with), can turn mouse acceleration off (default SHOULD be off, not on, Ubisoft). On the other hand, there's some tiny things here and there and horrendously taxing SSAO that detract from the overall quality of the port. Conclusion is that it's a pretty good port, though not great like Dishonored's and Borderlands 2's were.

See where it lists Far Cry 3 because it comes out this week. I'm ok with that.
