Battlefield Vs. Call of Duty: The Useless War

WC: Think about military first-person shooter games. Most likely you thought either Call of Duty or Battlefield, and if you didn’t, you’re probably one of the ArmA or Counter Strike cult followers and I commend you.

But if you thought CoD or Battlefield, though, you’re part of the majority. These two games have been battling it out for the title of “best military FPS” with neither seeming to have a clear lead. Perhaps it is the striking similarities between each game’s stories and characters that make it difficult for one to pull ahead. (Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

I wasn't a fan of BF3 (haven't really played the other BF games. I do like the spin off BFBC because it had a really decent single player game but I really didn't like BF3. COD is fairly similar so you know what your getting and its still fun. They need to be more adventurous but I think they have nailed the Michael Bay type of campaign

Same here, I prefer Battefield. Good for those that like COD.

In overall, Battlefield is the better game.

yes it is, and also I like BF physics better, those insane parachute jumps, bullet drops in distance and great vehicle control.. and squad really matters there, you can support other players or be a medic etc.. fun, fun, fun all over that place..

pity, latest BF games dosn't have those features from BF Vietnam with multiple helicopters and many of them could pick up a boat or a tank.. awesome times online :)

Good ol times :)

IMO, bf3 is better but they are two different style games, COD is a beer game and bf3 is a Starbucks game..

nah, cod is an endurance sort of a game, how much bs can you take and continue to play.
p2p servers, lag compensation, hit detection, teleport lag battles, console freeze, hosts rage quitting leading to migrating host, connections lost, brutal matchmaking..
Youd probably need beer to put up with that sht after alittle while..

Just play BF3 and have some fun.

I think CoD is much better than BF. MW, W@W, MW2, Black Ops are all better than BC1, 2 and BF3, but that is my opinion. Black Ops 1 is my fave online game this gen. However, BF has a chance to win me over now that both MW3 and Blops2 have disappointed me. I have lost faith in the product and am looking for a new shooter. BF could win me over.

if you do start to play BF3, you might want a good squad. newcomers get destroyed now because since it's been out for a while, everyone has the unlocks and are really, really good.

Metacritic and Sales figures clearly indicate that CoD is the better FPS. 94 on Metacritic for CoD4. :-)

My wife's Honda Accord has a better customer rating than my Nissan Z....Pretty sure its sold more to.....
Meta-critic numbers and sales data should be pasted on the game cover so we all can feel better about our choice in video games....LOL

Cod is a pick up and play.
Bf3 takes time to learn and improve.

If you play bf3 and switch to cod, you'll get sooo many kills because shooting people is so easy.
No recoil, can shoot across zap and easily kill.

IMO there's no reason to like cod over bf, not now bf3 does what cod tries to do better.
Bf3 is far from a sim, but it makes cod look as much as an arcade game as sonic.

Battlefield will ALWAYS be better than any CoD game.... its just that CoD have their big fanboy sites (IGN, KOTAKU, EUROGAMER, etc) to promote/hype the hell out of it and make the kiddies think its the best thing since sliced bread..

I have gotten sick of the lack of innovation and creativity with cod. Battlefield is really fun to play with friends.

Bf3 is the superior tactical shooter! COD is fun when you're buzzed from a few newcastles. Battlefield 3 shows that the developers took their time when designing whereas COD has been mostly copy and paste. I like them both but bf3 is my preference because playing with friends is so much better than playing COD.
