PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Review (MasonicGamer.com)

MasonicGamer.com: It’s clear from the get-go that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale isn’t exactly an original concept. It’s obviously about challenging Nintendo’s superstar series, Super Smash Bros. I have to give it to Sony because making a run at such an iconic franchise automatically makes them the target of great criticism in the community. But after a few minutes of gameplay players will quickly bite their tongues and realise that such a dismissal is a huge mistake.

The biggest question is does PASBR (I know) live up to its inspiration? In a word, yes but that’s not all there is to it. Sony has gathered a rather exciting cast of game icons and with a few conspicuous nods to its source material, Battle Royale does a lot of things right but at the same time a lot of things differently. Looking to provide more than just the chaos of 4-player combat, Battle Royale brings combos, counters and more to the table (PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, PS3) 8.5/10
