Miyamoto Convinced The People Behind Paper Mario: Sticker Star To Ditch The Story

Mario creator and legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto actually convinced them that story isn't necessary to a Paper Mario game. Which might be why, when compared to the other three Paper Mario games, Sticker Star's story just isn't up to par. (3DS, Paper Mario: Sticker Star)

Miyamoto ruined Paper Mario. /s I enjoyed the thousand Year door, that was also the last one I played. We all make mistakes and maybe now Mr.Miyamoto won't tell a development team to forgot about adding a story to a Mario game, other than the sports oriented Mario games.

Im srry but miyamoto been holding Ninty back for too long. Instead of creating fresh ips, he rely on the same ones. Instead of pushing new ideas and adapting to the market. He just decides to stick with the same old mechanics. If you ask me 10 years ago who would make a game like gravity rush,LBP or puppeteer. I would of instantly thought Nintendo but sadly how times have changed. It seem like Sony and Indie developers are creating the fresh and unique titles that the gaming industry needs.

Miyamoto is just past his prime and he just needs to go.

Miyamoto is actually pretty open to creating new IP's. After the "relative" failure of Pikmin, Nintendo as a whole sort of put the kibosh on expanding their repertoire.

Miyamoto himeself is just a little too old-school for his own good.

I'm sorry he doesn't develop for the Sony platform. And if he did, I'm sure you'd have nothing but praise. Anyway, nice to see you back here. Your comments always make my day~

That said, we have Miyamoto to thank for Skyward Sword's beautiful art style, and a new Pikmin among other things.

...and the thing is about Nintendo, is even without creating new IPs. Nintendo generally innovates heavily and re-invigorates its' franchises with each iteration of the same IP. Though it's very easy to understand from an onlookers point of view how the games can on the outside appear so similar. Too bad the old expression "don't knock it until you try it" doesn't really seem to apply here.

I don't agree with that at all. They make wonderful games, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing new or innovative about their games. They're just well designed evolutions of established conventions.

It's a testament to the core mechanics of all these classic franchises that most of their games still turn out great, but Nintendo hasn't been truly innovative since the N64.

This game frustrates the hell out of me. What is this supposed to be? It's part Paper Mario, part Mario and Luigi, and part let's just ship this thing. While most games use exploration as an incentive, this forces you to explore every single part of every level to proceed and the hardest part of the game is finding out where to go next. How is that even possible?

Ugh

I love the game so far... really don't get the venom toward it.
I mean, I wish there was another "true" paper mario, but this isn't a bad game on it's own merits. Funny, good pacing, intelligent design... with an interesting new mechanic.
