Zelda Gets The Skrillex Treatment, And It’s Surprisingly Great

Kotaku:

Yeah, I know. Skrillex game channels The Legend of Zelda. Seems like it might be bad, or at least, haphazard. But as it turns out, Skrillex Quest, a new browser game, is really pretty cool. It comes as something less of a surprise considering that it comes from Jason Oda, the same guy who brought us that amazing Perfect Strangers game.

The story is too old to be commented.

played it its about 5 min long, great music and i have no clue what was happening but it was a pretty cool trip 0-0

Bimkoblerutso1274d ago

....that wasn't very good at all.

This has just reinforced my distaste for Skrillex AND kotaku...

zgoldenlionz1273d ago

I was blown away by the game, I guess to each there own.

Pozzle1270d ago

I thought the game itself was great. But imo it would have worked better with remixed Zelda music, instead of just sticking some Skrillex songs in there.

skrillex is the uwe boll of music

attilayavuzer1273d ago

If Uwe Boll had extreme technical proficiency, near universal acclaim from his peers, two Oscars and mainstream success.

Dubstep is the Metal of Dance music... I grew up as a Heavy Metal kid... but now am HUGE into all things Electronica/Dance... Mainly Dubstep!

and also Skrillex isn't TRUE Dubstep!

ZombieNinjaPanda1273d ago

No. Dubstep is not the metal of dance music. It sounds nowhere near that. Low frequency bass 'wubs', with 138 bmp, perhaps accompanied with something with a little more treble, like the flute sound in the song I linked below.

What you describe is "brostep" something that even artists like Rusko have used to describe their music. So it astounds me that you go on to say that dubstep is like metal but then say skrillex isn't dubstep. It's like you are trying to understand this but got lost somewhere. This track should show you. Early 08 Skream.

Also people need to stop submitting Kotaku articles. They are trash.

The dirty/grimey nature of Dubstep and with MODERN Dubstep "Brostep" having headbanging/mosh pit worthy "drops"... I'd say the genre is INDEED the Metal of Dance...

This MODERN take on Dubstep if I'd relate it to any Metal genre I'd say it mostly reminds me of Grindcore!

As being a musician myself I can admit that I respect Skream as one of the main pioneers and as a artist... but Im more drawn to the newer more agressive sound!

Personally , these are my choices for Dances Heavy Metal... They may be classed as Industrial / Techno etc... But these rock way harder than any dubstep.

Maybe I'm just showing my age.... Here's a clue, I am much older than my CS-80....

EDIT: bit of gaming trivia... It was FLA who did most of the Quake III music

The problem is the "modern" take (in reality, it's just a cash out to get people out to terrible raves). The best description I've seen of it is that it's a constant breakdown.

If you're a metal head, I expect you of all people to appreciate music that isn't a breakdown all the time. Unless you're only into grindcore/metalcore/deathcore. Then I wouldn't really call you a metal head.
