Is Black Ops 2 the Best Call of Duty Game Since Modern Warfare?

gamingbolt.com: Look, I get it- Call of Duty is not the most dearly beloved franchise in the video gaming history. It represents everything “hardcore” gamers dislike about the business model so many publishers have now adopted- yearly releases. A focus on multiplayer. Mindless storylines. Activision. CoD has to be one of the most hated franchises these days- hell, our own review here at GamingBolt was less than enthusiastic about the game, and our author Ravi, too, criticized it quite a lot in his opinion piece. But somehow, each new Call of Duty game manages to sell in droves, crossing 15 million- and sometimes even 20- with each new installment. (Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

world at war was dated in its ww2 setting, good gameplay for the most part, but nothing special

mw2 turned into an arcade shooter with kids running around with dual shotguns, 10ft knife leaps, and never ending things flying/killing from the air.

black ops was pretty solid, but left room for improvement,

mw3 was more of the same, not really bringing anything new or exciting.

black ops 2 is fresh and well designed with the introduction of the 10 pt class setup, score streaks instead of killstreaks, and balance of guns and perks. no longer does cold blooded cover everything, they split it into 3 perks forcing you to choose wisely, emblem creator is bigger and deeper than before, and overall is the best version since cod4.

I still think the original Black Ops is the best Call of Duty. The multiplayer was balanced and fun, zombies were great, and the campaign was pretty interesting.

Black Ops 2 introduced some cool things like campaign choices and the Pick 10 system, but it just doesn't give me the same feeling the original Black Ops did.

The campaign choices in Black Ops 2 were alright, but I didn't think the rest of the story was that great. It was decent, but it just didn't grab my attention like the original Black Ops campaign did.

The multiplayer in Black Ops 2 feels like it was touched by IW. Aside from Turbine, the maps have a much more Modern Warfare feel to them. Which, I really don't like. Small maps with lots of alleys and what not. The wider, more open maps of the original Black Ops were great and really stood out to me. Even the smaller maps in that game felt good. The game was also very balanced in regards to the weapons and perks when creating a class. It didn't really matter what you used. In Black Ops 2, you're at a disadvantage if you're not using an SMG or shotgun. It's pathetic, really.

I'm not a huge fan of what they did with the zombies. It's an interesting design choice, but the game lacks playable maps. They designed one large map and broke it up into a bunch of really small sections.

So, while I think the campaign choices and the Pick 10 system are good features for the franchise, I personally don't feel like it's the best Call of Duty in the series.

BO2 doesn't impress me in the least. After Bo, I had my hopes up. I thought it would fix the flaws in BO and be more enjoyable to play. Instead I still can't hear footsteps, the maps are considerably worse(too many flank routes), quickscoping is MW3 like and noobish attachments like those in MW2 return. Instead of Thermal Sights and HBS, you get Millimeter Scanners and Target Finders. This game is for noobs with no skill or strategy that simply want to run non stop.
