Metal Gear Rising had finished script, bosses and levels ditched when Platinum took over

Speaking to OPM UK, Kojima Productions producer Yuji Korekado and Platinum Games director Keiji Saito revealed that Metal Gear Rising was at a playable level of development when Platinum Games took over from Kojima productions – and had designed a number of boss battles you’ll never get to see. The original Kojima Rising team should really work on a Gray Fox, he deserves a spin off and that's probably the only cyborg ninja that is capable of having stealth elements because of the time he is in, being the first ninja, and he has stealth camo while also having destructive power. Also the game I think can take place on shadow moses for a majority of the game and maybe some other envoirments and they can even start the game off with a mission or 2 from when Gray Fox was Null (as seen in portable ops). I'd love to see the old rising still be released mainly because the story sounded interesting, and if you can't tell I'm really looking forward to playing Rising with the Gray Fox skin ;)

Handing the game to Platinum was the best move by Konami in decades.

And they know it (even if they don't want to admit it)

I finnaly come to accept revengeance and i believe it will be a great game. But i always wanted the original concept of rising, and this article makes me want the original even more. I still dont understand why they weren´t able to balance the aspect of action and stealth. Just take a look at the tenchu games.

I always thought it was the Blade Mode concept that completely wrecked their concept.
