Wii U - Even Gaming Journalists Have Become Trolls

Anthony Accinelli of StrengthGamer writes, "Several hours later I couldn't believe what I was playing. I immediately hopped online to read the reactions of other gamers out there, only to be met with hate and cynicism.

I shrugged it off as typical troll behavior and moved to the next site. Much to my surprise I was greeted by the same negativity. Only this time it was by some of the more well-respected gaming journalists out there (if there actually are any of those anymore)." (Wii U)

About time someone said something. I don't own a Wii U, but the troll comments are absurd. Don't talk about something you don't know about!

And yet, the PS3 hate continues...

When have game journalists NOT been trolls and fanboys?
cleft5  +   909d ago
While game "journalists" have always loved gaming, they use to make an effort to separate their personal opinion and feelings from how good a game was. It didn't always work but they tried to be objective. Those days are long gone now.

It's only commonplace for people to put stuff down that they don't have. Whether it's due to jealously or just plain good ol' fashioned fanboyism at its finest. Some people just can't accept the idea of owning multiple gaming systems, so they have to trash something they don't even own.

I for one love everything Nintendo, but I also own a 360. I do this so that I get the best of both worlds. The awesome Nintendo 1st and 2nd party games, and then any 3rd party games that won't appear on a Nintendo platform.

Problem solved, the world goes on, everyone is happy.

That's stupid, unless you like games in general than it makes no sense to own all of those consoles, one should be sufficient.

all of those consoles? You mean two?

Why is that so bad?

If I go with Nintendo then I miss out on Halo, Gears of War, and some big 3rd party titles that won't appear on the Wii U (unless they get announced). If I go with Microsoft then I miss out on Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin, Super Smash Brothers.

Sony exclusives don't interest me enough right now (that may change when the PS4 comes around). But to sit there and say that you can't own two consoles and that one is enough is stupid. Why should I limit my gaming experience if money isn't an issue? That's very shortsighted of you.

I am definitely approving this article as what those journalists are doing is wrong.
Nes_Daze  +   909d ago
LOL, this has always happened, what changes is when "we" choose to see it.

The first example is interesting because weirdly enough buying DVDs is still as important as ever for the general public (aka Cnet's readers)so not being able to play Blu Ray is a legitimate concern even if you can stream. Your counter point to just ask FB is't really a really a good sample as they are going to be like minded individuals you know the tech savy people)

Anything to get their ad revenue, and it works very well too. If I were a journalist I probably would've done the same.

The only Sites I ever visit for reviews anymore are Gametrailers, and Gamesradar. And I just come here for news.

GT and Gamesradar's reviews have probably been the most fair for the Wii U so far, as well as reviews in general.

and as much as a lot of people don't like Shane Satterfield, he's one of the few who are actually defending the Wii u.

Not surprising really, just look at reviews for games like RE6. You had respected game "journalist" saying the game was terrible and unplayable. You expect that sort of nonsense from regular people that are just upset that there survival horror game is now an action game, but you would expect game "journalist" to judge the game based on it's own merits. Instead, you get childish behavior from paid professionals, crap like this is why I just don't trust game reviews or game "journalist" anymore. Then when you call these game "journalist" out on there crap, they hid behind the "this is just my opinion" crude.

Kudos to Anthony Accinelli for writing this and EVEN greater honor to you that you wrote this and you are a PS Vita advocate.

The game industry needs more people like you. Thanks for your time and trouble- AND your truth.

"So far, Nintendo has yet to do an overly impressive job of locking up exclusive titles only available on the Wii U. Aside from forthcoming first-party titles like Pikmin 3 and Game and Wario, Nintendo has only teased exclusives like Bayonetta 2, Lego City Undercover, and The Wonderful 101."

That is a lot of exclusives this early for it to be "nothing". And, as the article states, they forgot MH3U and ZombiU. And Nintendo Land. And, depending on your level of cynicism, NSMBU.

Also, Warriors Orochi and Ninja gaiden razors edge can be played on just the gamepad as well, so add them to the list.
