Square-Enix have listed the 5 characteristics of a Final Fantasy game, but are these really what make a true Final Fantasy game?
So the author is claiming that these elements are not what makes Final Fantasy games "special" yet proceeds to refer to the various games that used the five elements. Had the author felt these elements were not important, perhaps he should have cited which elements were. I agree with the list of five, as these are the general themes of each and every FF game.
Well, if you had actually read the whole article you would have come across this little tidbit... "part 2 of this article will consist of my detailed explanations of what makes a Final Fantasy game." And just because there are games that use the elements SE listed doesn't mean that A) They are elements that are uniquely Final Fantasy, B) They actually constitute what makes a Final Fantasy game, and C) They are elements that are well implemented in the games. This list is pretty pathetic and shows that SE doesn't know what makes an FF game anymore. Judging by your logic, I can say that annoying characters are a staple of FF as every game has at least 1 annoying character. Doesn't mean it's what actually makes an FF game an FF game.
