Videogames have undergone a drastic image change over the last two decades. In the mid-nineties, they were silly boy's toys, barely warranting a mention by adults or the news unless they did something scandalous or violent. Today, computer games are the most lucrative entertainment product in the world, with Call of Duty's life-to-date sales figures topping The Lord of the Rings', Star Wars' and Harry Potter's.

But that steep financial upturn could finally be waning - in October 2012, the game industry faced an 11th straight month of declining sales, with overall revenue down 24 percent compared to the same period in 2011.

Will probably get worse before it gets any better.

Yes but you have to look at what was on offer last year. Much more games.

Resistance 3
Gears of War 3
Uncharted 3
Battlefield 3
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Batman AC

And many more. This year in this time period we have had basically Halo 4, Blops 2, AC3, Borderlands 2. Then the smaller games like Dishonored, slepping dogs etc.

Call of duty and everything else turning into military shooters (RE6) are the reasons why I am losing interest in gaming.

This year for me im looking fword to.
-Hitman Absolution
-Far Cry 3
-Mass Effect Collection
-The Walking Dead complete
-Lords of Shadow 2
-Metro Last light.

No millitary shooters, the closest im coming to that is when I pick up the new Aliens Colonial Marines game.

Metro Last Light comes out next year. So does Colonial Marines. I am getting both, being a huge fan of the Alien universe and I loved Metro 2033.
