Next Gen Xbox Augmented Reality Glasses

Microsoft has filed a patent for augmented reality glasses which could change the way you see the world. The Red Dragon show digs into new information and patent drawings about the technology that could rival Google Project Glass. This isn't the first time we've heard about Augmented Reality Glasses. Earlier in the year, documents apparently were leaked about the Next Gen Xbox which also mentioned the implementation of Augmented Reality Glasses coming to the gaming console. Can it augment your reality so much you no longer look retarded wearing them? No?

Pass.

Are you planning on wearing them while out running errands or for gaming?

My little brother has this attitude towards 3d that just makes me shake my head (he's 36).

"I considered buying a 3d tv, but I don't wanna look like a geek wearing those glasses."

Seriously..he said that. Like someone is going to be looking in the window of this father of 2 and say "OMG! What a nerd!" while he's viewing a 3d movie or something and then he won't get invited to the winter social or some such thing.

Anywayz...I don't really see the point. If I'm staring at the screen anyway, just put what you want up on the screen. That's where I'm looking anyway and you just saved me a few hundred no doubt on fancy glasses I won't have to buy. What's the point of putting info in a display on your head?

Use your imagination Darkride. It's not all related to being in your home watching tv. Companies want you to stay connected no matter where you are.

Here's an example, imagine being in a city or perhapse another country and you're trying to find your way around or go to a certain address. How would you like the GPS/directions to your point oforgin displayed in real time on your glasses. Sort of like how Dead Space 2 did.

Or how about when talking to someone with a foreign tongue and the glasse actually translate and displays what they said OR displays an appropriate response in their language for you to say.

How about playing Lazer Tag outside and the glasses being able to actually show lazers shooting from your gun or vitality of your teammates and other cool Alines-esque stuff!

Aren't you like a game designer or something Darkride? And you don't see any point to this?

Why don't we ever see what comes of these patents?

This was also in the next-gen console leak that Microsoft promptly took down so it's more than very likely they're using these with Kinect 2.

The thing that excites me most about this is it'd be a real kick in the nads to everyone saying they don't like the Wii U because they think it is too gimmicky.

I'd be excited for the contacts if that tech comes along.

What about people who already wear glasses? How is that going to work?

Good question Houdini - - i've got the same problem - - that is why i've avoided 3D

Most of the 3D glasses I have used or seen are big enough to go over regular glasses.

Have you even tried it?

I have a friend who has glasses that watches 3D with me. He never said he had a problem with it and I never even thought about it until I read your post.

I am looking forward to this.

Looks very interesting. Count me in.
